The artist of this painting showed contrast in the lines by


using bold and thin lines . The artist used bold lines to
emphasize the focus in the artwork. The artist used tonal
difference to show contrast in the color. The artist put on
heavy black details on the focus of the artwork.

The artist used shapes and colors to create unity. The


rectangular shapes in the boy’s body are united. Also the
circles on the girl’s body. We can also see the unity in the
Texture of the background and in the shape of the flowers
below the girl and the boy.

The artist used asymmetrical balance in this artwork. The
woman in the black dress on the right side is very dominant
while the curtain on the left side showed dominance in order
to achieve balance in this artwork. If the black curtain were
in different size or color, the mood in this artwork would be
different.

The artist choose isolation in order to create emphasis on


this artwork. The girl in the grass was isolated from the
houses. We can also notice that the artist used detail to
make an emphasis.The girl is very detailed compared to the
grass and houses.

The artist showed variety using color, shape and line. The
artist used variety of colors in this artwork. The artist used
circular and rectangular shapes to show variety in this
artwork. Lastly, the artist used curve and straight lines in
this artwork.

The artist showed movement in this art. The movement of
the sunlight towards the front of the man is visible. The
direction of the rail of the stairs is leading to the forward
direction. Also, the man in the picture is going forward the
stairs.

The proportion used in this artwork is scale. Unrealistic scale


is shown, the sizes of the elements on the artwork doesn’t
resemble real life.

The artist repeated the stair like element with variety. The
artist used rhythm type of repetition in this artwork.
