WHAT’S MORE

1. Based on the video/article, what perspective/s of disaster does it

imply?
ANSWER: President Rodrigo Duterte has issued a proclamation
formally declaring a state of emergency. Following the health
crisis, the Philippines has declared a state of public health
emergency. The Department of Health and Human Services reported the
first known local transmission of the new coronavirus disease
(Covid-19).
The proclamation would also facilitate the implementation of
mandatory reporting, intensify government response and measures,
and enforce quarantine and disease control prevention measures.

2. What do you think are the significant needs of the people in the
video/article?
ANSWER: full assistance and cooperation, as well as mobilizing the
necessary resources, to carry out critical, urgent, and appropriate
response and measures in a timely manner to mitigate and eliminate
the Covid-19 threat.

3. Do you agree with the perspective of the President in mitigating

the effect/s of the disaster?
ANSWER: YES
4. Suppose you have the authority to give suggestion/s to the
President in reducing the impacts of the disaster in the video,
what advice will you give him? Justify your answer.
ANSWER: I would recommend that the government-imposed lockdown be
extended in order to ensure the safety of all Filipinos.
Despite the fact that some people suffer, losing jobs and their
primary source of income, the government should mandate and enforce
strict rules in order to reduce the number of COVID-19 cases.

5. What do you think is the role of the government in qualifying the

effects of a disaster?
ANSWER: The role of the government is to have an inherent
obligation to provide for the well-being of those they govern.
The government is expected to use its resources to provide relief
to those affected by the disaster. We expect the government to be
familiar with the needs of the affected people, the area in which
they live, and the government resources that are available.

What I Have Learned

MEDECINE, FOOD, GOVERNMENT ASSISTANCE, COUNSELLING, HOME, WORK

- MEDECINE as the most important because your health matters most,

next the FOOD which will give you the energy to fight and start
your life after a calamitous event, then the GOVERNMENT ASSISTANCE,
they can provide you temporary shelter and some primary needs as a
human being, then followed by COUNSELLING because our mind is the
hardest enemy among all, you should know how to deal with your
traumas and anxiety, then you can live your life with your family
and find a HOME to start your new life and lastly you can seek for
help to get a new WORK and sustain your needs as well as your
family.

extensive damage disasters that destroy large numbers of

one.
