1. How do you think your community influences your behavior?

- To some extent, social influences influence the behavior of all humans. The degree of
influence varies from person to person, depending on a variety of factors including self-
esteem, self-awareness, morals, and values. People will go to great lengths to ensure
that they are accepted by their community and that they are not shunned by those
around them. Individuals are usually guided by their own sense of what is right and
wrong, and they will make logical decisions based on this. They will, however,
occasionally completely push their own personal identity.

2. How does culture help in generating the character and identity of its people? Explain and cite
some examples.

- Our culture makes significant contributions to the development of our ideals and values.
Both cultural psychology and social anthropology agree that society influences one's
own personality for this reason. Furthermore, gender differences influence an
individual's personality traits. Culture influences how people perceive themselves and
interact with others. The cultural values of a family influence the development of a
child's self-concept: Culture influences how we see ourselves and others. Some cultures,
for example, prefer children to be quiet and respectful when around adults.
