Task 1 pg.16 Essay

“Methods schools and universities use to help students find suitable
jobs”

In our day and age, students find it really hard to get a job and focus on their
careers. This is in part due to the high expectations that employers have on the
younger generation. Were not it for those high expectations a lot more students
would have a job.
In regards to that, schools and universities should offer courses for their
students which provide them with the necessary qualifications, which as a result
might help them get a job faster or even attract potential employers. Besides, having
these courses could help them achieve higher paying jobs easier and faster.
However, employers say that these courses are too theoretical and do not help them
with the practical skills that they require.
Even though, I see their point of view I tend to disagree. I reckon that the
purpose of these courses is to help students the necessary critical thinking skills to
adapt in every situation. So important are these abilities that we use them even in
our daily life. To achieve this, I believe that the school subject does not matter, what
matters are the teaching methods used.
People and employers usually opt to learn practical skills instead of theoretical
ones. Although I believe that sometimes practical skills were more important in the
past nowadays times have changed and creativity and knowledge is what matters
most. That is why work experience programmes do not have a value anymore.
I would therefore argue that the best way to help students find and focus on
their careers is that they obtain an excellent higher education. If we want a better
future we should act right now.
