the machine and its application in the vehicles. I
learned about the types of gears used in the
differential. I acquired knowledge about the
procedure to be followed for designing the
inner bevel set and also method of analysis
force and stress acting on the inner bevel set
PE1.2 Conceptual understanding of the I calculated maximum torque and maximum 1.3.3
mathematics, numerical analysis, force at yoke joint considering maximum
statistics and computer and power, input speed and angle of path. After
that, I calculated moment of inertia of
information sciences which underpin
rectangular cross section, distance from section
the engineering discipline modulus to neutral axis, bending moment and
bending stress on yoke joint

The reduction ratio and factor of safety was 3.3.3

assumed as 7:1 and 1.5 respectively. For the
drive shaft, I assumed input speed and input
power. Now I procced to design set of inner
bevel gear. I assumed pressure angle, velocity
ratio, pitch and back cone angle and module of
miter gear to determine teeth numbers, face
width, dedendum height, pitch cone distance,
mean radius and addendum height
I designed CAD model of yoke joint assembly in 1.3.4
SolidWorks. I prepared 2D model of yoke slip.
After confirming dimensions of yoke slip, I
converted the 2D model of yoke slip to 3D by

specialist bodies of knowledge within .
the engineering discipline

I carried out design work of proposed system in 3.3.4

SolidWorks software.

I analyzed the design of yoke joint assembly in 1.3.5

ANSYS

PE1.4 Discernment of knowledge

development and research directions
within the engineering discipline I then began to make CAD model of various 3.3.4
differential`s pats in SolidWorks. Initially, for
easiness I produced the 2D model by applying
design parameter and then I converted 2D
model in 3D models in SolidWorks
I selected SAE 1050 and SM45C carbon steel 1.3.2
materials for analyzing yoke joint assembly

PE1.5 Knowledge of contextual factors

I decided to opt set of inner bevel gears, 3.3.2

bearing for drive shafts of bevel gears and of
worm gear, shaft spline of worm and bevel
gear, worm wheel, worm for the proposed
project,
I did the project to perform the design of yoke 1.2.2
joint assembly

PE1.6 Understanding of the scope,

principles, norms, accountabilities and
bounds of contemporary engineering
practice in the specific discipline I perform this project work to design 3.2.2
differential worm gear

PE2 ENGINEERING APPLICATION ABILITY

I solved the issue of assembly of yoke joint by 1.4.1
increasing the hub of yoke joint

PE2.1 Application of established

engineering methods to complex
engineering problem solving
I utilized the chamfering tool for reducing the 3.4.1
sharp edges on the worm wheel to mitigate the
formation of higher stress concentration on its
edge and solved the issue
I analyzed the design of yoke joint assembly in 1.3.5
ANSYS

PE2.2 Fluent application of engineering I then began to make CAD model of various 3.3.4
techniques, tools and resources differential`s pats in SolidWorks. Initially, for
easiness I produced the 2D model by applying
design parameter and then I converted 2D
model in 3D models in SolidWorks
I analyzed the design of yoke joint assembly in 1.3.5
ANSYS. I brought the model of yoke joint
assembly to ANSYS and selected static
structural analysis. Then I applied properties of
SAE1050 to yoke joint and generated mesh of
the yoke joint. After that, I assigned boundary
conditions of yoke joint to meshed model; I
provided fixed support to one end of a yoke
and provide torque to the other end of another
yoke and executed simulation.
PE2.3 Application of systematic

model was imported in ANSYS from SolidWorks.
I did structural analysis of the worm. I inputted
the material properties of 15Ni4Crl such as
density, Poisson ratio, etc. and generated the
mesh model of proposed differential reduction
gear. I assigned the loads on it and applied the
boundary condition for performing the
simulation and ran the simulation
