LOG
I. OBJECTIVES
The learners demonstrate understanding of the particle nature of matter as a basis for
A. Content Standard
explaining properties, physical changes, and structure of substances and mixtures.
The learners should be able to present how water behaves in its different states within
B. Performance Standard
the water cycle.
C. Most Essential Learning Explain the properties of solids, liquids, and gases based on the particle nature of matter;
Competency (S8MT-IIIa-b-8)
1. Explore the three states that matter can exist in.
D. Specific Learning 2. Enumerate and describe the characteristics of each state or phase of matter
Objectives 3. Relate the different characteristics of the states of matter to the diverse values and
cultures of Filipino people.

IV. PROCEDURES
A. Reviewing previous Routine:
lesson or Prayer, Greetings, Checking of Attendance (Google Chrome Tracker)
presenting the new
lesson A Glacier Tour!
(ELICIT) Integration to Geography
Using the Nearpod VR Fieldtrip, students will visit a glacier park in Two Medicine Lake in
Montana USA. Tell them to pay attention to the different state of water they will see. In a
collaborate board, ask the students the following questions:

Guide Questions:
1. What did you observe?
2. What are states of water you saw?
3. Have you ever wondered how these states of matter look like in terms of their
particles?
B. Establishing a Vocabulary Game:
purpose for the Integration to Languages
lesson Using the Nearpod Matching Pairs Activity, match the example to the correct concept.
(ENGAGE)
C. Presenting
examples/Instances
of the new lesson
(ENGAGE)

In this lesson the students will learn:

1. Explore the three states that matter can exist in.
2. Describe the characteristics of each state of matter.
3. Relate the different characteristics of the states of matter to the diverse values
and cultures of Filipino people.
D. Discussing new Phet Simulation Activity
concepts and Integration to
practicing new skills # ICT
1 Show an
(EXPLORE) example of
each of the
states of
matter by
using Phet
Simulation
Activity
wherein
students
will be able to
watch and
simulate a
3D animation of the particles of the matter in their devices. Allow students to give their
idea using the collaborate board about the arrangement of the particles in a solid, liquid
and a gas. Ask them to draw these particles.

You Describe Me!

Characteristics of Matter
Using Nearpod, present the slideshow about the characteristics of matter to provide
scaffolding as students learn the difference among the particles of solid, liquid, and gas.
Each student will work in pairs and will answer the table posted in Nearpod.

E. Discussing new
concepts and
practicing new skills #
2
F. (EXPLORE)
We Belong Together!
Conduct a post-activity discussion
about the “Characteristics of Matter”
activity by performing the activity
presented in Nearpod entitled
“We Belong Together!”.

Emphasize to the students the

following characteristics of matter:
a. The matter is made up of
tiny particles.
G. Developing mastery b. The particles of matter are
(EXPLAIN) moving all the time.
c. These particles have
spaces between them.
d. The particles of matter attract each other.
Integration to Values, Society, AP, Filipino Cultures.
Present the pictures of different Filipino values and cultures and let students relate these
to the characteristics of matter that they learned.

H. Finding practical
application of
concepts and skills in
daily living
(ELABORATE)

Emoji Exit Pass

AHA!!!
I. Generalizing and Student will present this emoji and give their learnings about the topic.
abstractions about
the lesson
HUH??
Student will present this emoji and give one question they want to ask.

Provide a short quiz about the topic.

Time to Climb
1. Which state or phase of matter has the most tightly packed (densest) particles?
a. Solid b. Liquid c. Gas d. Plasma
2. Matter requires energy to transfer from a solid to a liquid.
a. True b. False
3. Which is the best definition of matter?
J. Evaluating learning a. Anything that is solid. c. Anything that has mass.
(EVALUATE) b. Anything that takes of space. d. Anything that has mass and takes up space.
4. In what way is a solid different from a liquid?
a. A liquid is lighter than a solid.
b. A liquid is made of atoms; a solid is made of molecules.
c. A liquid doesn't have a fixed shape, a solid does.
d. A liquid is always denser than a solid.
5. What is the basic shape of a liquid?
a. A sphere. b. The same shape as a gas, only rounder.
c. A cube. d. Whatever the shape of its container is.
K. Additional activities Let’s Create
for application or Construct a model of a solid, or a liquid or a gas. The model should show how its atoms
remediation
are arranged. You must use recycled materials like clay, soda crowns, old coins, and
(EXTEND)
others in making the model. Do this on a short bond paper. Color it as well. Label it
properly and write a one-sentence description of how its atoms are arranged.

V. REMARKS
VI. REFLECTION
No. of learners who earned 80% in the evaluation
A. No. of learners who require additional activities for remediation who scored below 80%
B. Did the remedial lessons work? No. of learners who have caught up with the lesson
C. No. of learners who continue to require remediation
D. Which of my teaching strategies worked well? Why did these work?
E. What difficulties did I encounter which my principal or supervisor can help me solve?
F. What innovation or localized materials did I use/discover which I wish to share with other teachers?
