JUST GOOD FRIENDS?

WRITING TASK

As a member of the HR Department, write a set of guidelines on relationships at


work for discussion at the next board meeting.

Company Guidelines on Workplace Relationships
Welcome to Techno21, the company that cares!

Essentially, the company does not want to place undue restrictions on


relationships between employees because people should be free to choose
their partners. However, to ensure that relationships will not cause
awkwardness or trouble in the workplace, as a member of the Human
Resources Department, I would like to propose and offer instructions and
regulations are as follows:
1. Love contract

● To avoid unfortunate situations, all employees will be in need of a signed

love contract before officially joining the company.

● The contract specifically requires: for consensual and serious

relationships, employees need to disclose to the HR Department.

● Bear in mind that contracts including transfer and promotion

arrangements may be affected by policies that prohibit employees to

work in the same department or prohibit supervisor/subordinate

relationships.

2. Acceptable behavior

● While the company doesn’t object to employee relationships, the

workplace is still a professional setting. We expect the employees to

treat each other with respect and avoid hindering other people’s work.

Remember to always respect your colleague's time and choices.

● If a colleague is persistent and constantly interrupts your work, ask them

to stop and notify your manager. In the event that the above individual

continues to have improper behaviors, do not hesitate to report it

immediately to the Human Resources Department. In particular, sexual


harassment is strictly prohibited, and those who intentionally will face

disciplinary action, including seemingly harmless actions. For more

details, please refer to other employee benefits policies.

● Techno 21 expects employees to always behave appropriately and follow

the Code of Conduct.

3. A yearly training program about skills of work behavior

● Every individual is different. Therefore, the company believes that not all

of the staff have a clear understanding of how to behave properly at

work. If you belong to the case, don't be ashamed because the Executive

Board has proposed a free training course to help employees overcome

this weakness.

● With the desire to bring a healthier and more practical working

environment, the program launched will not only give lessons in how to

have better conduct but also help establish healthy relationships and

bring the staff closer.
