The Qur’an curriculum consists of nine levels catering for all ages and abilities.

All students will be assessed during registration to be assigned the


best suited level. Rest assured, students with previous studies will be taken into consideration before a level is assigned.

Qur'an Foundation
The Qur’an Foundation Level is designed for children under the age of 6 years old who are not able to read. Children will begin exploring the
Arabic alphabet through phonetic sounds. With our bespoke Arabic Phonetic Sounds book, crammed with fun reading, writing and arts & crafts
activities; children will become accustomed to the formations of every letter and their correct pronunciations; which is essential for reading with
fluency. Children will learn the phonetic sounds through the Al Haramain Arabic and English Nashīds which involve actions relating to each letter.
Children (and parents alike) will have great fun learning vocabulary through our exclusive innovative and interactive augmented reality technology
medium where you will see the alphabets pop right out of the book!

Alongside learning to read, children will be memorizing Surahs from Juzz 'Amma with careful monitoring on the correct pronunciation and
application of the rules.

Qur'an Level 1
Qur’an Level 1 is for children above the age of six who are unable to read. Students will learn all the letters of the alphabet in 7 weeks using our
bespoke Qur’an Level 1 booklet crammed with exercises to speed up letter recognition. Children will then move on to Al Qā'idah Al Nūraniyyah
which is a specialised Qā'idah used throughout the Middle East. It incorporates learning Makhārij (correct pronunciation) and rulings in a unique
repetitive rhythm enabling children to learn quickly. Furthermore, it is written in the same typography as Al Mus-haf Al Madinah making the
transition to reading the Qur'an ever easier. For homework, children will be required to watch Al Haramain Word Formation Videos which
summarise each lesson of Al Qā’idah Al Nūraniyyah through animation.

Children will be individually set Surahs for memorisation according to their ability.

Qur'an Level 2
Qur’an Level 2 is for students who are familiar with the Arabic alphabet but need more practice in improving their fluency of reading. Students will
focus on applying the rules of Tajweed that are essential to reading accurately without delving into the fine details of the rules (which will be
covered in the next level). Students will:

· Improve letter recognition


· Understand the functions of the short vowels
· Understand the functions of the Tanwin
· Understand the function of the Sukun
· Understand the function of the Shaddah
· Practice joining letters and reading words
· Use listening skills to imitate different sounds such as nasal sounds and lengthening
· Learn about the characteristics of the letters
· Have the opportunity to practice reading many words, include those which are challenging on the tongue, to improve fluency and accuracy

By the end of this level, students should feel confident to read anywhere from the Qur’an with the application of essential Tajweed rules in
preparation to study the technicalities of the rules in the next level.

Qur'an Level 3
Students who are able to read fluently can join Qur’an Level 3. In this level, students will begin the journey of learning the rules of Tajweed in a
detailed manner. Students will learn about:

· Al Isti’adha & Al Basmalah


· The articulation points of the letters
· The characteristics of the letters
· The rules of Nun Sakinah and Tanwin
· The heavy and light letters
· The general rule of Ra’
· The rule of Lam in the name of Allah

Through the teacher-lead group reading, students will develop the application of the rules under the direct supervision of the teacher. In this level,
students will read the whole of Juzz ‘Amma and they will highlight the rules using Al Haramain’s unique Colour Code system on a weekly basis.

Qur'an Level 4
Students who have completed Qur’an Level 3 or equivalent can join Qur’an Level 4. In this level, students will continue to learn the rules of
Tajweed in a detailed manner. Students will learn about:

· The rules of Mim Sakinah


· The rules of Lam Sakinah
· The rules of Ra’ in detail
· The types of stopping
· The rule of Qalqalah in detail

Through the teacher-lead group reading, students will develop the application of the rules under the direct supervision of the teacher. In this level,
students will read the whole of Juzz Tabarak and they will highlight the rules using Al Haramain’s unique Colour Code system on a weekly basis.

Qur'an Level 5
Students who have completed Qur’an Level 4 or equivalent can join Qur’an Level 5. In this level, students will continue to learn the rules of
Tajweed in a detailed manner. Students will learn about:

· The Natural Madd


· The Secondary Madd
· The Opening Letters

Through the teacher-lead group reading, students will further develop the application of the rules under the direct supervision of the teacher. In
this level, students will read the whole of Juzz Qad Sami’ Allah and they will highlight the rules using Al Haramain’s unique Colour Code system
on a weekly basis.

Qur'an Level 6: Hifdh Al Qur’an


Students who can read independently and can apply the rules of Tajweed can join this level. Students are not expected to know the theoretical
aspect of the rules however must be able to apply them, therefore completion of previous levels is not a prerequisite to enter this level. Students
will undergo a separate entry level test to ensure suitability to this level. Application of rules will be corrected by the teacher verbally during the
lessons so that the memorisation is accurate. Students will be set individual targets for revision and for memorising which will be tested on a
weekly basis.

Spiral Curriculum & Assessment


At Al Haramain Qur'an Schools, we support students by providing skilled teachers who can mentor students to use various memorisation
techniques. Teachers assess each student's memorisation capability and gradually increase targets to improve memorisation capacity. We
understand that students need to not only be supported to memorise but on retaining what they have memorised from the Holy Qur'an. Taking a
spiral approach, teachers will assign an individualised memorisation and revision portion to be tested in each lesson

Qur'an Level 7: Ijazāh - Tuhfatul Atfāl (2 YEAR PROGRAMME)


Qur'an (Ijazāh) Level 7 is suitable for those children who are able to read with fluency. The students will become “friends” with the Arabic alphabet
by knowing every detail about them; where they live (Al Makhārij), what they are like (Al Sifāt) and what they like to do (Al Ahkām).

The medium that will be used to teach the rules of Tajweed is the classical poem Tuhfat Al Atfāl which translates as ‘The Beginner’s Bequest’. It
was written by Imam Al Jamzūri for children to not only study the rules of recitation but to learn them by heart through poetry.

In Part 1 of this level students will cover the chapters:


· The Introduction,
· The Rules of Nūn Al Sākinah and Al Tanwīn,
· The Rules of Mīm Al Sākinah,
· The Rules of Nūn and Mīm Mushadatain
· The Letter Lām in Nouns and Verbs.

In Part 2 of this level students will cover the chapters:


· The Two Alike, The Two Similar and The Two Close By
· The Types of Madd
· The Rulings of Al Madd
· The Types of Madd Lāzim
· The Conclusion

Students will be supported by our exclusive innovative and interactive study materials to enhance their learning. They will do age appropriate
written exercises in which they will learn the meaning of the poem and the rules pertaining to Tajweed, the meaning of key Arabic words used in
the poem and basic verb conjugation, practice handwriting, learn about the author and the history related to the poem and learn about the virtues
and etiquettes of learning and teaching Qur’an. These exercises will ensure that your child has understood each chapter well and will enable
him/her to be on the path to become a distinguished recitor of the Qur’an.

Students will be continuing their memorization of the Qur'an and encouraged to memorize Tuhfat Al Atfāl with close monitoring for accuracy and
fluency.

Qur'an Level 8: Ijāzah - Al Jazariyyah


After having established the rules pertaining to the recitation of the Qur'an through Tuhfat Al Atfāl, the student will now be ready to tackle the
poem 'Al Jazariyyah' in Level 8. Matn Al Jazariyyah is a famous poem on Tajweed and it covers the rules in more depth in comparison to Al
Tuhfat Al Atfāl.

Students will cover the following chapters:


· The Basmalla and Isti'aadha
· Articulation of Letters
· Characteristics of Letters
· Distinguishing Letters ‫ ض‬and ‫ظ‬
· Rules Pertaining to Stopping, Rules Pertaining to ‫ ن‬and Tanween
· Rules Pertaining to ‫م‬
· The Mudood (Lengthening)
· Hamzat Al Wasl
· The Separated and the Joined
· The Various Forms of Letter ‫ت‬
· The Levels of Reading Errors
· The Levels Of Nunation (Ghunnah)
· The Levels of Tafkheem
· The Definitive and Verbal Letter ‫ل‬
· The Relationship Between Letters
· Miscellaneous Rules in the Reading Of Hafs An 'Aasim

Students will cover these chapters through our exclusive innovative and interactive study materials to enhance their learning. As the rules of
Tajweed in this poem require knowing some Arabic grammar, the reading and writing exercises have been designed to support the student to
understand how to apply the rules in any part of the Qur’an therefore facilitating him/her to become an independent reader of the Qur’an.

Qur'an Level 9: Ijazāh - Hifdh Al Qur'an


This level is suitable for students who wish to embark on the path of memorising the Holy Qur'an from cover to cover and become high caliber
recitors. Completion of this course will allow students to be recipients of Ijāzah (certification) for recitation and memorisation of the Qur'an with a
chain going back to the Prophet Muhammad (‫)ﷺ‬.

Attention will be given to the correct manner of beautification and changing of tones of the voice (without any deduction of the application of
Tajweed) to emphasize according to the meaning of the verses of the Qur'an.

Students are not expected to know the theoretical aspect of the Tajweed rules however must be able to apply them independently to join this
level. Application of rules will be corrected by the teacher verbally so that the memorisation is accurate. Students will be set individual targets for
revision and for memorising which will be tested on a weekly basis.

Complete memorisation time is dependent on the ability of each student; Al Haramain teachers will support each student to achieve their
maximum potential.

The Arabic Language is the key to unlocking the understanding of the Qur’an. Our Arabic Language syllabus is carefully designed with six levels
to teach Fus-ha Arabic (Classical Qur'anic Arabic). All students will be assessed during registration to be assigned the best suited level. Rest
assured, students with previous studies will be taken into consideration before a level is assigned.

Arabic Foundation
The Arabic Foundation level is designed for children who are under the age of six years old who are not able to recognise all the letters of the
Arabic alphabet. In this level, children will:

· Learn the correct methodology of holding a pencil (tripod grip)


· Practice writing different types of lines (straight, curved etc) in order to form Arabic letters which are typically written from right to left.
· Practice writing the letters of the alphabet in the individual forms.
· Know the sounds of each letter
· Practice reading the letters of the alphabet in the joining form (initial, medial and final).
· Distinguish the letter in its individual form and initial form from other letters
· Learn vocabulary relating to each letter

By the end of this level, children are expected to be able to recognise all the letters of the alphabet, write each letter in its individual form and
know vocabulary relating to each letter. In the next level, children will use these words to make sentences in Arabic.

Arabic Level 1
Arabic Level 1 is for children under the age of 10 years old who are complete beginners to the Arabic Language. In this level children will learn to:

· Recognise each letter in its individual form.


· Recognise each letter in its joined forms (beginning, middle and end)
· Know all the phonetic sounds and read all the letters of the Alphabet
· Practice writing letters with and without a tracing guide
· Learn the function of vowels and read accordingly
· Understand how “Naughty Letters” are written and practice writing them.
· Say basic Arabic phrases and short sentences

By the end of this level children will be able to read Arabic words and know their meaning. In the next level children will develop their vocabulary
further and begin to speak longer Arabic sentences.

Arabic Level 2
Arabic Level 2 is designed for students who are ten years old or above and are not fluent readers and writers of Arabic. In this level students will:

· Learn to write the whole alphabet in individual form


· Learn to write all the letters of the alphabet in all the joining various forms (beginning, middle, end)
· Know the meaning of Arabic words containing the letters ( in the beginning, middle, end)
· Distinguish between similar sounds
· Learn the function of all vowels and symbols
· Use demonstrative pronouns to make short sentences
· Use masculine and feminine nouns appropriately
· Recognise and read with Alif Al Maqsura
· The definite article and the Solar & Lunar letters.
· Practice having conversations in Arabic by; greeting, introducing oneself, introducing others, asking questions, describing someone’s
whereabouts using prepositions and ending a conversation with appropriate greetings.
By the end of this level students will be fluent readers and writers of Arabic and familiar with some of the basic grammatical rules in Arabic. In the
next level, students will develop their understanding of grammar by focusing on conversational Arabic.

Arabic Level 3
Arabic Level 3 is designed for students who can read and write Arabic with confidence. Students will focus on conversational Arabic with topics
pertaining to daily life. They will learn some basic grammar rules and great importance will be given to the practical aspect of speaking Arabic.
Students will use the child-friendly version of the famous “Al Arabiyyah Bayna Yadayk” where they will do reading and writing activities to
demonstrate their understanding as well as partake in role play activities to practice conversations verbally.

Arabic Level 4
Arabic Level 4 is designed for students who have completed Arabic Level 3 or the equivalent. Students will continue to focus on conversational
Arabic with topics pertaining to daily life. They will develop their previous understanding of grammar with great importance will be given to the
practical aspect of speaking Arabic. Students will use the child-friendly version of the famous “Al Arabiyyah Bayna Yadayk” where they will do
reading and writing activities to demonstrate their understanding, expand their vocabulary of verbs in particular, and continue to partake in role-
play activities to practice conversations verbally.

Arabic Level 5
Arabic Level 5 is designed for students who have completed Arabic Level 4 or the equivalent. Students will continue to focus on conversational
Arabic with topics pertaining to daily life. They will develop their previous understanding of grammar and great importance will be given to the
practical aspect of speaking Arabic. Students will use the child-friendly version of the famous “Al Arabiyyah Bayna Yadayk” where they will do
reading and writing activities to demonstrate their understanding, expand their vocabulary of verbs in particular, and continue to partake in role-
play activities to practice Islamic behavior and etiquette relating to different scenarios.

The Islamic Studies curriculum at Al Haramain Madrasah takes a spiral approach to learning, where students revisit each area and study it in
greater depth each year. There are a total of eight levels, each covering essential age-appropriate authentic knowledge according the Islamic
requirements for each age group.

Younger students will explore basic principles of Emaan / Tawhid (Creed) through the Names and Attributes of Allah. Students will also be
introduced to topics relating to the Qur'an, the Prophet Muhammad (sws)and basic manners and morals through a variety of fun activities.

Children aged 7-16 will each be taught modules on Islam, Emaan, Tawhid (Creed), Ablution (Wudu), Prayers, Fasting, Hajj, Zakat, Islamic
Mannerisms and the life of the Sahaba, through the explanation of Hadith, Qur'an (Tafseer) and Seerah. Each age group will cover topics in more
detail and teachers will place an emphasis on strengthening the relationship between the Muslim and Allah, as well as loving the Prophet
Muhammad (SWS) and his companions. Classes will be taught through discussions and practical examples of how to perform acts of worship
correctly.

Students will greatley enjoy Islamic studies at Al Haramain Madrasah while being taught through fun exercises, creative practical activities and
feuturistic lessons (the first of it's kind in the UK) with the support of our exclusive advanced augmented and virtual reality development on our
curriculam.

Tarbiyyah & Moral Studies is very unique to Al Haramain Madrasah and taught through inspirational assemblies and thought-provoking practical
workshops. Students will be encouraged to reflect on each lesson thus paving the way to nurture a deep understanding of moral values. Through
the stories in the Qur’an and authentic Hadith (Sunnah), this subject aims to develop exemplary Islamic character, manners, etiquettes, ethos and
inter-personal skills.

Students will cover a range of topics, including but not limited to; happiness, respect, mercy, patience, gratitude, modesty, anger management,
conflict resolution, generosity, humility, equality, honesty, friendship, true success, teamwork, sincerity, social conduct, time management,
cleanliness, servitude (to Allah), forgiveness and full reliance on Allah.
