Mohamed Jefran My Design of an African traditional mask 18/10/21

The mask I have designed consists of many materials and colors and accessories.

My mask includes colors like – (The Jefranonian Mask)

 Dark Green
 Black
 Yellow
 White

In my opinion these colors have tribal and traditional looking features which I included in my
masks to look more inclusive to the topic.

I have used a variety of materials; some would’ve been used in the olden times too. I have
used materials like –

- Clay
- Plastic mask mold
- Paint
- Wax
- Crystal Diamonds
- Earrings
- Feathers
- Rough paper

I have used all these materials in my project to make this mask look traditional and cultural.

Procedure of making the mask –

1. First you take the Plastic mask mold and start to mold the clay into the mask shape
on it.
2. Then you let it dry for around 2 days.
3. Then take it and you would find some light breaks.
4. To refrain from it breaking, take some wax, melt it and apply
it between the breaks to mold it together to refrain it from breaking.
5. Then let it fry for couple of minutes.
6. After it dried you can start painting it (I used spray paint).
7. Let the paint dry for 1 day.
8. After the paint has dried start with attaching the feathers to the head.
9. Then add some details with brush painting with other colors and let it dry
10. Then you can design the mask with the rough paper.
11. Finally, you can add the earrings as accessories and your mask is DONE!
