Evaluate and analyze the effectiveness of the use of forceful words in terms of their effect
on the reader.

A writer must consider what they say and how they express it. It is not enough to have
well-organized thoughts as complete and cohesive words and sentences to communicate
effectively. One should consider the manner, tone, and clarity of their writing. In this essay, the
author used forceful words to communicate that the Philippines Senate is the dumping ground for
all sorts of rubbish.
The essay is written in a forceful manner to persuade the reader. Writing about a
subject consistently is one of the most effective ways to persuade others about it. It is
reasonable to use these kinds of language since the writer puts forward his view. The writer
appears to persuade the readers to agree or that the point is vital by employing forceful
words. It implies that the reader must take action in response to this. Therefore, we can say that
the usage of forceful words helps the argument sound persuasive and effectively sway the
readers' emotions to agree with the point the author wants to prove.

4. HASTY GENERALIZATION
Paragraph H. – For it would seem that most of them are past their prime in the vocations where
they had won fame and vast fortunes. They are now seeking a new career during what some
would call a “mid-life” crisis” –a career that would continue to ensure the publicity and a
measure of power subsidized by taxpayers’ money.
 Based on his evidence, the author applies a belief to a more significant number of people
than he should. He stated that “most” of them are past their prime in the vocations where
they had won fame and vast fortunes.
 We could take note of the use of the “most” claim, which implies a large number of
people. Based on the examples and evidence he stated, it is not enough to prove that a
large number of celebrities who run for a senatorial seat are past their prime in the
vocations. Most claim requires 50% + 1 of the said people to prove the author’s claim.
 The author should also consider the celebrities who have promising careers but chose to
run as senators.
 Also, it is not right to assume that “most” of them will run to seek a new career because
the author should still consider that there are celebrities who genuinely seek to serve the
public.
5. The essay has given enough view of the political condition in our country for the past years;
the rise of the traditional politician and decline to qualifications. It also reveals the attitude and
perspective of the Filipinos about politics; that as the qualification and expectation to the
politician is declining throughout the years, the Filipinos are settling to the trapos, to those who
are known, those who promise heaven on earth, but all are empty words.
The essay holds a powerful message, a call for a change. We are currently under an oppressive
system and favors those with the money and power. As Filipino, this should be enough to open
our eyes and seek the right service the Filipinos deserve. This essay should be enough to stop us
from being quiet and encourage us to use our voice to fight against the oppressive system that
holds back every Filipino to get the right service and justice. It is a wake-up call to be critical in
choosing the right person who will stand as the voice of the mass and genuinely for the
Filipinos.
