FINDINGS

The following were the significant findings of the study:

1. As to the profile of the respondents there were 198 respondents answered

the questionnaires conducted by the researchers. As to the Age bracket 18-

26 years old got the frequency rate of 58 or (29.3 %), 27-35 years old got

the frequency rate of 43 or (21.7 %), 36-44 years old got the frequency rate

of 24 or (12.1 %), 45-53 years old got the frequency rate of 33 or (16.7 %),

54-62 years old got the frequency rate of 22 or (11.1 %), and 63 years old

and above got the frequency rate of 18 or (9.1%).

As to their Sex, male got a frequency rate of 88 or (44.4 %) and

female got a frequency rate of 110 or (55.6 %).

As to Civil Status, single got the frequency of 66 or (33.3 %), single

parent got the frequency rate of 7 or (3.5 %), with live-in partner got the

frequency rate of 24 or (12.1 %), married and living together got the

frequency rate of 77 or (38.9 %), married but separated got the frequency

rate of 8 or (4.0 %) and widow/widower got the frequency rate of 16 or

(8.1 %).

As to Highest Educational Attainment, Elementary level got the

frequency rate of 13 or (6.6 %), Elementary graduate got the frequency rate

of 18 or (9.1 %), high school level got the frequency rate of 28 or (14.1%),

high school graduate got the frequency rate of 29 or (14.6 %), college level

got the frequency rate of 68 or (34.3 %), college graduate got the frequency

rate of 37 or (18.7 %), and vocational course or technical skills training got

the frequency rate of 5 or (2.5 %).

2. As to the perception of the respondents on the Community Partnership, ,

item no.1 “Barangay Peacekeeping Action Team members were

approachable by the citizen.” got a mean of 3.54 with a standard deviation

of 0.62 and a verbal description of “Strongly Agree” got a rank of 1. Item

no.2 “Promotes mutual trust through providing safety services .” Got a mean

of 3.32 with a standard deviation of 0.63 and a verbal description of

“Strongly Agree” got a rank of 3. Item no.3 “Encourage citizens to submit or

forward comments, recommendations or reactions to the Barangay

Peacekeeping Action Team Desk .” got a mean of 2.88 with a standard

deviation of 0.0.85 and a verbal description of “Agree”got a rank of 9. Item

no.4 “Barangay Peacekeeping Action Team members together with the

residents conducts Bayanihan.” Got a mean of 2.79 with a standard

deviation of 0.77 and a verbal description of “Agree” got a rank of 10. Item

no.5 “Implements anti-insurgency, disaster mitigation and community

assistance programs.” Got a mean of 2.89 with a standard deviation of 0.77

and a verbal description of “Agree” got a rank of 8. Item no.6 “Promotes

active involvement of the community in implementing peace and order.” Got

a mean of 3.21 with a standard deviation of 0.62 and a verbal description of

mitigation, search, rescue, and relief operations within the community.” Got

a mean of 3.08 with a standard devation of 0.62 and a verbal description of

new organization (Barangay Peacekeeping Action Team).” Got a mean of

2.98 with a standard deviation of 0.82 and verbal description of “Agree” got

a rank 6. Item no.9 “Empowers community in reporting suspected crimes

through an award/commendation.” Got a mean of 2.95 with a standard

deviation of 0.85 and a verbal description of “Agree” got a rank of 7. Item

no.10 “Inform the residents for activities conducted by the barangay officials

concerning the peace and order.” Got a mean of 3.35 with a standard

deviation of 0.63 and a verbal description of “Strongly Agree” got a rank of

2.

3. As to the Crime Prevention , Item no.1 “Cooperates with the police

officers and the Barangay Council in identifying suspected criminals.” got a

mean of 3.28 with a standard deviation of 0.71 and a verbal description of

“Strongly Agree” got a rank of 2. Item no.2 “Provides security as a support

to the PNP in securing the place on conducting Orientation to the parents on

how to guide their children not to commit crimes .” Got a mean of 3.18 with a

standard deviation of 0.74 and a verbal description of “Agree” got a rank of

7. Item no. 3 “Conducts daily rovings in the barangay.” Got a mean of 3.23

with a standard deviation of 0.67 and a verbal description of “Agree” got a

System.” Got a mean of 2.97 with a standard deviation of 0.83 and a verbal

a mean of 3.26 with a standard deviation of 0.60 and a verbal description of

“Strongly Agree” got a rank of 3. Item no.6 “The Barangay Peacekeeping

Action Team members were active and participates in the PNP’s fight against

criminality.” Got a mean of 3.25 with a standard deviation of 0.67 and a

verbal description of “Strongly Agree” got a rank of 4. Item no.7 “Provides

opportunity to all non-workers by conducting livelihood seminars .” Got a

mean of 2.72 with a standard deviation of 0.96 and a verbal description of

“Agree” got a rank of 9. Item no.8 “Distribute fliers on the ill-effects of

committing crimes.” Got a mean of 2.21 with a standard deviation of 1.05

and a verbal description of “Agree” got a rank of 10. Item no.9 “Encourages

the community to participate in crime preventions to the police or authority

as watchers.” Got a mean of 3.24 with a standard deviation of 0.72 and a

verbal description of “Agree” got a rank of 5. Item no.10 “Implements

Curfew Strictly.” Got a mean of 3.24 with a standard deviation of 0.64 and

averbal description of “Strongly Agree” got a rank of 1.

4. As to Summary of the Mean Distribution on the Effectiveness of Barangay

Peacekeeping Action Team as perceived by the respondents, , Indicator no.

1 “Community Partnership” got an overall mean of 3.10 with a verbal

description of “Agree” and a rank of 1. Indicator no. 2 “Crime Prevention”

got an overall mean of 3.08 with a verbal description of “Agree” and a rank

of 2. The Grand mean is 3.09 with a verbal description of “Agree”.

5. As to the Test of Significant Difference on the perception of the

respondents of the Effectiveness of Barangay Peacekeeping Action Team

when the respondents are grouped According to their Profiled Variables, the

p-value of Age, Civil Status and Highest Educational Attainment are greater

than the level of significant of 0.05. There is a sufficient evidence to accept

the null hypothesis. This means that there was no significant difference on

the perception of the respondents on the Effectiveness of Barangay

Peacekeeping Action Team when the respondents are grouped according to

their Age, Civil Status and Highest Educational Attainment. When they were

grouped according to their Sex the p-value was lower on the level of

significant 0.05, the null hypothesis was rejected, hence there was a

significant difference on the perception of the respondents on the

Effectiveness of Barangay Peacekeeping Action Team.

6. Based on the findings, an Enhancement Program will be proposed.

CONCLUSIONS

1. Most of the respondents were mostly in the age bracket of 18-26 years

old, female, married and living together and were college level.

2. As to the perception of the respondents on the Community Partnership,

Item no. 1 “Barangay Peacekeeping Action Team members were

approachable by the citizen” got the highest mean of 3.54 with a standard

deviation of 0.62 and a verbal description of “Strongly Agree” which implied

that the responses of the respondents are closer to the mean. Item no.4

“Barangay Peacekeeping Action Team members together with the residents

conducts Bayanihan” got the lowest mean of 2.79 with a standard deviation

of 0.89 and a verbal description of “Agree” which implied that the responses

of the respondents were far from the mean.

3. As to the perception of the respondents on the Crime Prevention, Item no.

10 “Implement Curfew Strictly” got the highest mean of 3.45 with a

standard deviation of 0.64 and a verbal description of “Strongly Agree”

which implied that the responses of the respondents are closer to the mean.

Item no.8 “Distribute fliers on the ill-effects of committing crimes” got the

lowest mean of 2.21 with a standard deviation of 1.05 and a verbal

description of “Agree” which implied that the responses of the respondents

were far from the mean.

RECOMMENDATIONS

The following recommendations are given on the basis of the presiding

conclusions.

1. The Barangay Peacekeeping Action Team together with the residents

should conduct Bayanihan for them to be more effective.

2. The Barangay Peacekeeping Action Team should encourage citizens to

submit or forward comments, recommendations or reactions to the

Barangay Peacekeeping Action Team Desk for them to be more effective.

3. The Barangay Peacekeeping Action Team should distribute fliers on the ill-

effects of committing crimes to the residents in order for them to be more

effective.

4. The Barangay Peacekeeping Action Team should provide opportunity to all

non-workers by conducting livelihood seminar in order for them to be more

effective.

5. The future researchers shall continue conducting research study about

this problem to evaluate the effectiveness of barangay peacekeeping action

team and to determine the effectiveness of the enhancement program given

by the researchers of this study.

6. Based on the findings an enhancement program is designed to improve

the effectiveness of Barangay Peacekeeping Action Team In Purok Perlas

Barangay Taft, Surigao City.

Proposed Enhancement Program

The proposed output is designed to improve the Effectiveness of

Barangay Peacekeeping Action Team in Purok Perlas Barangay Taft, The

Barangay Peacekeeping Action Team together with residents should conduct

Bayanihan and they should encourage citizens to submit or forward

comments, recommendations or reactions to the Barangay Peacekeeping

Action Team Desk. Also they should distribute fliers on the ill-effects of

committing crimes to the residents and provide opportunity to all non-

workers by conducting livelihood seminar.

The Effectiveness of Barangay Peacekeeping Action Team in Purok

Perlas Barangay Taft, Surigao City will establish towards the program. The

Barangay Peacekeeping Action Team together with residents should conduct

Bayanihan. The bond and inter-personal relationship between BPAT and

residents will be improved through Bayanihan Program. Encourage citizens

to submit or forward comments, recommendations or reactions to the

Barangay Peacekeeping Action Team Desk. BPAT are just a frontliner but

Peacekeeping activities is everybody’s concern, citizen must be encourage to

participate and to play their rule. Distribute fliers on the ill-effects of

committing crimes to the residents is a simple effort but has a big impact in

maintaining peace and order because the residents and potential criminals

will be more aware of the consequence of criminal action. Provide

opportunity to all non-workers by conducting livelihood seminar. Acquisitive

crime occurrences such as theft and robbery will lessen if people has a

something to put on their table. This will result to a long term outcome of

establishing enhancement program as an approach to be more effective

practice for future career.

Objectives

1. To strengthen the support and trust of the community.

2. To encourage the community to participate in peacekeeping activities.

3. To promote awareness on the consequences of committing a crime.

Plan Description

The enhancement Program consist the following activities:

a. Orientation of Barangay Peacekeeping Action Team members


with regards to all enhancement program.

b. Discussing the responsibilities of every person who are


involved in this study.

c. Follow-up for the better results of all enhancement program.

d. Analyzing the results if what is the best Enhancement


Program.

Evaluation

The proposed Enhancement Program will be evaluated in the following

year after its implementation.
