I. OBJECTIVES At the end of the lesson, learners are expected to:
1. listen perceptively to selected vocal and instrumental music of
Medieval, Renaissance and Baroque Periods;
2. analyze Gregorian chant and relate it to the elements of music;
and,
3. compare the Medieval, Renaissance, and Baroque Period music.
A. Content Standards The learner demonstrates understanding of the characteristic
features of music of the medieval, the renaissance and the baroque
periods.
B. Performance Standards The learners will perform selected songs from the Medieval :
✓ Chants
✓ Madrigals
✓ Excerpts from Oratorio
✓ Chorales
✓ Troubadour
C. Most Essential Learning The learner describes musical elements of selected vocal and
Competencies(MELC) instrumental music of Medieval, Renaissance and Baroque music;

IV. PROCEDURES
A. Introduction What I need to know?
• In this part, the learner will be ask to describe 4 elements of
music namely; rhythm, texture, dynamics, timbre.
B. Development What’s new?
• Medieval, Renaissance, and Baroque Period will be
introduced to the students along with its music selections
What I know?
• The learner will answer the pre-activity M,A,PE,H. The
learners will write their answers in a pad paper and they will
take a photo of it.
• After answering the questions, the learners will upload their
answers in Google drive provided by the teacher.

What’s in?
• The learner will be introduced to a brief history and of the
Medieval, Renaissance and Baroque Period.
• The learner will be introduced to the characteristics of the
Medieval, Renaissance and Baroque Period.
• The learner will listen to the link that features a Gregorian
chant of the Medieval Period.

What is it?
• Let the learner compare/differentiate the characteristics of
three eras.

C. Engagement What’s more?


The learners will take part in a short exercise to test their
understanding about different musical elements in vocal and
instrumental music of Medieval, Renaissance and Baroque through
searching of those words in crossword puzzle and classifying them
according to what eras these music belong.

• In this part, the learners will pair for two and tell whether the
song they will hear is an example of a Gregorian Chant, Madrigal or
Oratorio

(Additional Activities)
• The learners will seek assistance to their parents. List 3 songs
that are commonly sing during religious event/church service or
worship.
The learner will sing one song from the list with their family
members

D. Assimilation What I have learned?


• In this part, the learner will choose a song they like.
• The teacher will ask them to give a short description of the song
and its purpose
What I can do?
• As performance output, the learners may create a simple
composition and perform it through humming based on the
characteristics of Gregorian Chants.
• Rubrics will be provided by the teacher to guide the learners in
making their compositions.
The performance output will be present through video recording
which will not exceed by 1 minute and submitted to the teacher
through Facebook messenger
