Task 1 : Find out the function of each parts.

a. Cockpit : The space in the fuselage of a small airplane containing seats for the
pilot, copilot, and sometimes passengers or a compartment for the pilot, and
sometimes also the crew, in an aircraft or spacecraft.
b. Nose Airplane : Like the tip of an arrow, it decides where the plane is going
to go. All of the elements of flight depend on keeping the nose pointed in the
right direction.
c. Nose Gear : In most airplane designs, the nose gear is used to steer the
airplane while it is on the ground.
d. Door of airplane : Passengers board or exit from the plane through these
doors. Specially engineered exit doors are designed so that they do not open
during the flight and do not cause pressure loss.
e. Airplane Windows : Airplane windows consist of three separate panes. The
outer pane deals with this air pressure difference.
f. Wing : In aeronautics, an airfoil that helps lift a heavier than air craft. When
positioned above the fuselage (high wings), wings provide an unrestricted
view below and good lateral stability.
g. Landing Gear : The purpose of the landing gear in an aircraft is to provide a
suspension system during taxi, take-off, and landing.
h. Leading Edge : To reduce the stall speed and promote good low-speed
handling qualities.
i. Wingtip : Wingtip devices are intended to improve the efficiency of fixed-
wing aircraft by reducing drag.
j. Flaps : Used to reduce the stalling speed of an aircraft wing at a given weight.
Flaps are used to reduce the take-off distance and the landing distance.
k. Ailerons : Movable part of an airplane wing that is controlled by the pilot and
permits him to roll the aircraft around its longitudinal axis. Ailerons are
used primarily to bank the aircraft for turning.
l. Horizontal Stabilizer : The stabilizer is a fixed wing section whose job is to
provide stability for the aircraft, to keep it flying straight. The horizontal
stabilizer prevents up and down, or pitching, motion of the aircraft nose.
m. Vertical Stabilizer : To provide stability for the aircraft, to keep it flying
straight. The vertical stabilizer keeps the nose of the plane from swinging from
side to side, which is called yaw.
n. Rudder : The small moving section at the rear of the stabilizer that is attached
to the fixed sections by hinges.
o. Elevator : Used to control the position of the nose of the aircraft and the angle
of attack of the wing.
p. Tail : Mainly used for stability, as well as creating lift in combination with the
wings. The horizontal stabilizer keeps the airplane's nose from moving up and
down (pitch).
q. Cabin : Cabin is the section of an aircraft in which passengers travel. Most
modern commercial aircraft are pressurized, as cruising altitudes are high
enough such that the surrounding atmosphere is too thin for passengers and
crew to breathe.
r. Lavatory : An aircraft lavatory or plane toilet is a small room on
an aircraft with a toilet and sink.
