The first curling medals of the 2022 Winter

Olympics in Beijing were handed out Tuesday
when Italy defeated Norway to win gold in
mixed doubles. And that was just the first of
three golds that will be awarded over a two-
week span.

On Wednesday, the men’s and women’s

curling competitions begin with the United
States men looking to repeat its gold medal
performance from 2018 and the women
looking to make an impact on the world stage.

John Shuster and the U.S. men begin

competition against Russia at 7:05 a.m. ET on
Wednesday, Feb. 9, while the U.S. women
begin against Russia at 8:05 p.m. ET on
Wednesday, Feb. 9.

The U.S. mixed doubles team of Vicky

Persinger and Chris Plys finished round-robin
play in eighth place with a 3-6 record.

Plys will participate with the men’s team of

Shuster, John Landsteiner, Colin Hufman and
Matt Hamilton. The U.S. women’s team
features Tara Peterson, Aileen Geving, Becca
Hamilton, Tabitha Peterson and Nina Roth.
