ARTURO LUZ

INTRODUCTION
Arturo Rogerio Luz, painter, sculptor and designer was born on November 20, 1926 in
Manila he’s a Philippine National artist awardee for visual arts that was declared on year
1997.

One of the most remarkable work of Arturo luz is Cities of the past with the linear works and
elegant abstract. Inspired with his many travels through the historic cities of Asia.

I think Arturo luz come up with the idea of making this art because when he was still on
college he started to travel in lots of country. We can see here that he use’s vertical and
horizontal lines to represent rich architectural design of the cities and shades of red and black
background to elaborate his signature geometric style.

SUMMARY
He studied painting at the School of Fine Arts at the University of Santo Tomas, Art School
of the Brooklyn Museum in New York, and Académie Grade Chaumière in Paris. Graduated
in California College of Arts and Crafts in Oakland in 1994. He married artist Tessie Ojeda
Luz and have 4 daughters which are Angela Luz, Paola Luz, Claudia Luz, Luisa Luz
Lansingan.
