Why is this conference important?
The purpose of the Let’s Get Together
Conference is to augment awareness on the
issues and challenges facing LGBTIQ youth
in Newark.  The semi-annual conference will
educate the Tri-state community and
service providers on the many pressing and
important issues surrounding the Lesbian,
Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Intersex, and
Questioning (LGBTIQ) youth population.  It
will focus on medical, psychological, and
legal LGBTIQ issues while integrating
cultural sensitivity trainings.  Through this
educational framework, Newark-Essex
Pride Coalition (NEPC) aims to promote
more awareness and equality for the
LGBTIQ youth in Newark.

Conference Organizer
Dr. Theron Mallard serves as NEPC’s
conference chair. He currently serves as
Health Education Coordinator at the North
Jersey Community Research Initiative.
Specifically, he heads the newly formed
MSM mentoring program named My
Brother’s Keeper in Newark, New Jersey.
He has traveled throughout the United
States, Europe, and the Caribbean teaching
health professionals and patients about the
importance of maintaining a holistic
approach to health and wellness.
