CLASSROOM LABORATORY Elongation of A Spring
CLASSROOM LABORATORY Elongation of A Spring
Instruments:
- Springs
- Bodies with different mass
- Dynamometer
- Tape measure
Procedure:
Take a spring, hang it from a stand and put a weight on the other side.
With a tape measure, determine the total length of the spring with the weight holder.
We will call its value the initial length (L o)
With the dynamometer, determine the weight of the mass you will hang on the spring.
Its value is the force (F)
Add the mass weight and determine the length (L) again.
Data analysis:
Complete the table bellow and calculate the spring constant of the spring.
Conclusion:
Finally, make a conclusion about the relation between the spring constant and the stiffness of
the spring.
