General Instructions:
1. The question paper consists of 14 questions divided into 3 sections A, B, C.
2. All questions are compulsory.
3. Section A comprises of 6 questions of 2 marks each. Internal choice has been provided in
two questions.
4. Section B comprises of 4questions of 3 marks each. Internal choice has been provided in
one question.
5. Section C comprises of 4 questions of 4 marks each. An internal choice has been provided
in one question. It contains two case study based questions

SECTION A

1. Check whether the following equations are quadratic or not. [2 Marks]

a) 2𝑥 − 5𝑥 = 𝑥 − 2𝑥 + 3

b) 𝑥 − 3𝑥 − √𝑥 + 4 = 0

2. How many terms of an A.P. 9, 17, 25,... must be taken to give a sum of 636? [2 Marks]
3. In the given figure, two circles touch each other at the point C. Prove that the
common tangent to the circles at C, bisects the common tangent at P and Q.

[2 Marks]
4. In the given figure, the angle of elevation of the top of a tower from a point C on the
ground, which is 30 m away from the foot of the tower, is 30°. Find the height of the
tower. [2 Marks]

5. The dimensions of a solid iron cuboid are 4·4 m × 2·6 m × 1·0 m. It is melted and recast
into a hollow cylindrical pipe of 30 cm inner radius and thickness 5 cm. Find the length
of the pipe.
OR
The diameter of a sphere is 6 cm. It is melted and drawn into a wire of diameter 2 mm.
Find the length of the wire. [2 Marks]

6. The ratio of the length of a vertical rod and the length of its shadow is 1 ∶ √3 . Find the
angle of elevation of the Sun at that moment?
OR
A ramp for disabled people in a hospital has a slope of 30°. If the height of the ramp is
1m, then find the length of the ramp. [2 Marks]

SECTION B

7. In the figure, find the perimeter of ΔABC, if AP = 12 cm. [3 Marks]


8. Find four numbers in AP whose sum is 20 and the sum of whose squares is 120.
OR
Determine the general term of an AP whose 7th term is − 1 and 16 th term is 17.
[3 Marks]

9. Using the quadratic formula, solve the quadratic equation 𝑥 + 2√2𝑥 − 6 = 0
[3 Marks]

10. From a point on a bridge across a river,the angles of depression of the banks on
opposite sides of the river are 30° and 45°, respectively. If the bridge is at a height of
30 m from sea level, then find the width of the river. (use √3 = 1. 73) [3 Marks]

SECTION C

11. A survey regarding the heights (in cm) of 51 boys of Class X of a school was
conducted and the following data was obtained: [4 Marks]

Find the median height.


12. Draw a circle of radius 3 cm. Take two points P and Q on one of its extended diameter
each at a distance of 7 cm from its center. Draw tangents to the circle from these two
points P and Q.
OR
Draw a circle of radius 2.8 cm. From an external point P, draw tangents to the circle
without using the center of the circle. [4 Marks]

SECTION D
Case Study Based Questions

13. On a Sunday, your Parents took you to a fair. You could see a lot of toys displayed, and
you wanted them to buy a RUBIK’s cube and strawberry ice-cream for you.Observe the
figures and answer the questions. [4 Marks]

(i) What is the curved surface area of hemisphere (ice-cream) if the base radius is 7
cm?
(ii) Find the total surface area of cone with hemispherical ice cream if the radius is
7 cm and the height is 24 cm.
14. The men’s 200 m race event at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic took place 3 and 4 August.
A stopwatch was used to find the time that it took a group of Athletes to run 200 m.
(i) Estimate the mean time taken by a student to finish the race.

(ii) How many students finished the race within 1 min? [4 Marks]
