STATISTICS AND PROBABILITY
Name: HIRRAH REIGNE C. GAGUAN
Section: STEM 11-CHARITY

PERFORMANCE TASK
Collect 6 unique data (including yourself) of families’ and/or friends’ height (in inches) or
weight (in kilograms). Consider a sample of size 4 that can be drawn from this population.
Given the data, the students will construct a sampling distribution of the sample means.
Solve for its mean, variance and standard deviation and draw its corresponding
histogram.
(You can write you answers in a separate sheet of paper, take a picture and insert it in a
word/pdf file.)

Note: For the variance of the Sampling distribution, you can make use of either the table
or the formula.
Data:

The table below consists of the (height/weight) height of six people.

Name Relationship Measurement

Hirrah Gaguan myself 63 inches
Marivel Gaguan Mother 62 inches
Hannibal Gaguan Father 64 inches
Zyrah Cuevas Cousin 68 inches
Dane Patlonag Friend 63 inches
Khatelyn Obuta Friend 60 inches

1. Mean of the Population

∑𝑥 60+62+63+63+64+68
𝜇= =
N 6

=63.3

So, the mean of the population is 63.3

2. Variance of the Population

𝑥 𝑥−𝜇 (𝑥 − 𝜇)2
60 60-63.3= -3.3 10.89
62 62-63.3= -1.3 1.69
63 63-63.3= -0.3 0.09
63 63-63.3= -0.3 0.09
64 64-63.3= 0.7 0.49
68 68-63.3= 4.7 22.09

∑ (𝑥 − 𝜇) ^2= 10.89 + 1.69 + 0.09 + 0.09 + 0.49 + 22.09

∑ (𝑥 − 𝜇)^2 = 35.34
𝛴(𝑥−𝜇)2 35.34
𝜎2 = = ≈ 5.89
𝑁 6
So, the variance of the population is 5.89

3. Number of Possible Samples of size 𝑛 = 4

C(n,r)=?C(n,r)=?
C(n,r)=C(6,4)C(n,r)=C(6,4)
=6!(4!(6−4)!)=6!(4!(6−4)!)
=6!4!×2!=6!4!×2!
= 15
So, there are 15 possible samples of size 4 that can be drawn.
