Serial Protocol Converter 2.5 (SPC2.5) Quick Reference


This document provides a quick reference of the SPC2.5 board. For a complete technical reference, see
Aristocrat document no. 20-00420, Serial Protocol Converter (SPC2.5) Guidebook.

Ports RAM Clear


Port Description Step Description
P1 Not used 1. Insert link on jumper J8.
P2 EGM Connections 2. Power up the board (quick flashing of the
LED).
P3 Secondary System Port 3. Remove link on jumper J8.
P4 Primary System Port 4. Remove power form the SPC board
Port Description 5. Power up the SPC board.
J5 5 Volts not used on Aristocrat MKVI™ NOTE: Normal operation indicated by
and new GEN7™ VIRIDIAN™. LED flashing 5-times per second.
J3 24 Volts from backplane or audio
amplifier.

LED Pulse Codes


Pulse Rate Description
5-times per second SPC2.5 operating normally
10-times per second Non-volatile memory has been cleared. Remove jumper from CLR (J8) and
power cycle SPC2.5
Pulsing one time Communication is down on port 2
Pulsing two times Communication is down on port 3
Pulsing three times Communication is down on port 4
Pulsing four times Non-volatile memory is not initialized correctly. Clear non-volatile memory
before continuing.
Pulsing five times Bad Configuration of the SAS address ID on primary/secondary port.
NOTE: Normal operation indicated by LED flashing 5-times per second.

Jumpers
Jumper Configuration Description
J4 (WD) In (insert link) Enables the watch dog timer on the board.
J8 (CLR) Out (remove Link Used to manually clear the non-volatile RAM on power-up if the
jumper is “In” (LED flashes 5-times per second after memory
cleared.)
J9 In/Out On games for the N. Carolina Cher Jurisdiction, this jumper should
be in (insert link).

Caution: Power must only be supplied in the range from 8 to 24 volts through
connector J3. Do not use 5 volts through connector J5, as communications loss
and stability problems will result.
