LESSON PLAN ACTIVITIES

INTRODUCTORY ACTIVITY (also known as: ANTICIPATORY SET):


● Students will assemble instruments and participate in the rhythm counting activity.
o Time allotted: 6 minutes

NEW CONTENT (also known as: BODY OF THE LESSON or ACTIVITIES THAT
DEMONSTRATE THE NEW MATERIAL/CONCEPTS)
● Activity 1: Students will listen to Four Breton Dances and follow along in their music.
● Universal Design (Options/Levels for inclusion of all learners, including required
Modifications & Accommodations): Variable ways to show understanding of rhythm, or
playing ability based on specific student need.
o Instructional Strategy: Students will listen to Four Breton Dances and follow
along in their music.
Students will discuss things in the piece that they noticed, or that the group should
pay attention to.
o Formative Assessment: Students discussion reflects understanding of the
challenges of the piece.
o Time allotted: 6 minutes.

● Activity 2: Students will…Play through Four Breton Dances resetting at measure


markers as need.

Teacher will restart the group at measure markers as needed.

sections of the music.

● Students will mark at least 1 section of the music that they need to pay attention to or
work on.
Students will show their neighbor what section they marked, and explain what they are
going to do to work on that section.

EXTENSIONS:
● If time allows, students will read through the piece again, paying attention to the sections
they marked.
