INDENTIFY AND EXPLAIN

Sensitivity ( Intercultural Respect, Reconciliation and Solidarity)

 This requires the promotion of values and attitudes as well as policies based on
mutual respect, understanding, and nondiscrimination on the basis of ethnicity,
faith, and other cultural characteristics. Disunity among Filipinos, especially in
Mindanao remains fueled by prejudices, biases, and discrimination. It is crucial to
develop solidarity and active dialogue of peoples within and across societies,
without glossing over differences and diversity.
Talking about sensitivity is a sensitive word in itself. It has a broad sense of scope in
terms of various comparisons within individuals. In the context of Mindanao, where a
long history of conflict has been fueled by prejudices, biases, and discrimination passed
on from generation to generation since colonial times, Because of the influx of migration
from Luzon and the Visayas to Mindanao, the island has been a melting pot of different
cultures. Also, the Disunity among Filipinos, especially in Mindanao is very evidence
especially having wars. So, napakamahalaga na bumuo ng pagkakaisa , pagrespeto
at aktibong pag-uusap sa kapwa natin even though they’re different from us.

GOALS
 Eliminate prejudice, bias, and discrimination; and build solidarity with everyone’s
differences.
 Respect, understand, and value each individual’s ethnicity and other cultural
characteristics.

PLANNED STRATEGIES
 Youth Summer Peace Camp 2022
So, this Summer Peace Camp 2022 is focused on the youth because they are the hope
of our nation, and this provides an opportunity for young men and women from
Mindanao to meet the other people that live across the border. At the peace camp,
youths explore their differences in religion, culture, faith, belief, and tradition. They
could be able to share their experiences of being discriminated against, prejudiced, and
stereotypically based on their ethnicity, culture, and so on. Through the camp, we aim
to make the youth understand the complexities of their religious identities, culture, and
other beliefs and develop a sense of respect, understanding, reconciliation and unity
towards each other.
 KaPEACEtahan
KaPEACEtahan, it similar to the of word kapistahan, which means festivity. It brings to
light the importance of celebrating peace and the journey towards achieving it. It will be
a festive celebration of peace and we can inculcate it in the school where the students
can showcase different live performances and presentations of different dances, along
with poster making, boodle fights and peace spoken poetry.

ACTUAL OUTCOMES
• Youth Summer Peace Camp 2022- its open to Youth in Mindanao Region
• KaPEACEtahan-
OUTCOMES
• It builds solidarity and reconciliation.
Through conducting those activities in the peace camps and KaPEACEtahan, it builds
solidarity and reconciliation with others because you will meet other people that live
across the border. By being in touch with each other, we can create better relationships
with others, with no discrimination, prejudice, or bias, which leads to solidarity (unity)
and reconciliation (pagkakasundo).
• It brings change
So, again, through conducting those activities, we it also bring changes in the lives of
individuals. It can change our mindset that every individual needs to be respected and
understood for the way they live. Exclusion could lead to conflict, and we need to
accept every individual. Even though it’s a small idea to conduct those activities, we can
change the world to make it a better place to live in.
REFLECTIONS
 Chaos, misunderstandings, and war cannot be avoided. The only thing we need
to do is be more sensitive to other people’s differences and learn to accept every
individual difference.  Furthermore, through small ideas in conducting those
activities, we can reduce the problems that we are facing. Even though these are
small ideas, they can be a stepping stone to achieving the peace that we want for
our world. Lastly, you should be part of a solution, not a problem.
