Corrosion is caused by many factors such as pollution, temperature,

humidity, and these environmental factors obscures PCB manufacturing

process. Occurrence of corrosion on PCB is very sensitive to surface

chemical properties. Factors such as Ionic cleanliness, the roughness and

surface chemistry of the solder mask influence the rate of creep corrosion

growth components. (Primelite, 2015).

2.4 Definition of Terms

2.4.1 Operational Terms

 Moisture – is a form of water vapor from the condensation process

which produces dampness as warm air contacts with cold surface or

vice versa.

CHAPTER 3. RESEARCH DESIGN

3.1 Project Conceptualization

The rectangular metallic container catches the excess fluids and is

designed to be larger than the declared PCB sizes to ensure that there will be

no-leakage of cleaning solvents on the machine’s linear slider from the

expulsion of the first and third phase which is the Brushing and Coating Stage.

The container catches excessive fluid expelled by the machine preventing the

chemical solution to contaminate the machine’s chassis.

1. Results of Evaluation

Testing Results

Challenge in building the machine is finding the most appropriate materials that will

satisfy the prototype’s objective. The most efficient circular brush has a dimension of

4x4” the reason why the board size limitation is 4” in terms of width in catering utmost

efficacy of hardware to brush specified Copper PCB size. Any board that will exceed the

width limitation size of 4 inches is not allowable to enter the machine. And also, the

length of the board highly depends on the Linear holder with a maximum of 10”.

CHAPTER 5. SUMMARY, CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS

1.1 Summary of Findings

Every process on the prototype activates and turns “ON” only when the

Linear Holder reaches the specific cleaning phase (Brushing, Drying Coating,

and Curing). Upon the observation of the LCD and the IR detection of

Rectangular Holder, the hardware was tested fully functional with respect to

programming design according to declared steps for the stepper motor to

accurately deliver the Holder to the cleaning phases. After running both software

and hardware functions, the result of testing was successful. Each function and

components are working properly according to their specified tasks.

Meanwhile, the polished Copper PCBs were examined using the

Continuity Multimeter test to check the accuracy of the overall cleaning process

with the application of varnish to the electrical connections of the boards. The

holder’s grip from the rectangular container which leaves a mark on the Copper

board as well as the bubble formation from the expulsion of varnish from coating

phase was tested comprehensively via the Multimeter Test and recorded

properly that it does not affect the connection of copper layout design due to its

minimal accumulation. Solder points on the boards respond effectively to the

continuity test. It was properly documented that the boards respond to electrical

connections successfully and no connections were affected during the polishing

process.
