CARIBBEAN

❖ Important Facts:
The Caribbean is a region of the Americas that consists
of the Caribbean Sea, its islands and the surrounding
coasts. The region is southeast of the Gulf of Mexico
and the North American mainland, east of Central
America, and north of South America.

❖ Gastronomical Practices:

A traditional goat stew is a national dish recognized in


Montserrat and very popular in St. Nevis and Kitts. This
famous stew consists of tomatoes, dumplings, green
papaya, breadfruit, and goat meat. Ingredients that are
common in most islands' dishes are rice, plantains,
beans, cassava, culantro, bell peppers, chickpeas,
tomatoes, sweet potatoes, coconut, and any of various
meats that are locally available like beef, poultry, pork
or fish.
SOUTH AMERICA

❖ Important Facts:
South America is a continent in the Western
Hemisphere, mostly in the Southern Hemisphere, with a
relatively small portion in the Northern Hemisphere. It
can also be described as a southern subcontinent of the
Americas.

❖ Gastronomical Practices:

Asado with offal and sausages. Asado is a term used


for a range of barbecue techniques and the social event
of having or attending a barbecue in Argentina,
Uruguay, Paraguay, Chile, Colombia, Venezuela,
northern Mexico and southern Brazil. In these countries
asado is the standard word for "barbecue".
MEDITERRANEAN

❖ Important Facts:
The Mediterranean Sea is a sea connected to the
Atlantic Ocean, surrounded by the Mediterranean Basin
and almost completely enclosed by land: on the north
by Southern Europe and Anatolia, on the south by
North Africa, and on the east by the Levant.

❖ Gastronomical Practices:

Mediterranean Italian cuisine includes much of Italy


outside the north and the mountainous inland regions.
It is a diverse cuisine, but among its best-known and
most characteristic foods are risotto, pizza in
Neapolitan and Sicilian styles, and pasta dishes such as
spaghetti.
SCANDINAVIAN

❖ Important Facts:
Scandinavian is a sub region in Northern Europe, with
strong historical, cultural, and linguistic ties. The term
Scandinavia in local usage covers the three kingdoms of
Denmark, Norway, and Sweden.

❖ Gastronomical Practices:

Their cuisine is based on pork, sausages, duck and


other fowl, lamb, seafood, cabbage, potatoes, root
vegetables like beets, rutabagas and turnips,
mushrooms, dill, caraway, mustard, dairy products, and
juniper berries. In the far north of Sweden and Norway
reindeer are eaten.
