INTRODUCTION TO THE PHILOSOPHY OF THE HUMAN PERSON – CORE SUBJECT

GRADE 11/12
Quarter: 1 Week: 2 MELC(s): Distinguish opinion from truth, realize that
methods of philosophy lead to wisdom and truth and evaluate truth from
opinions in different situations using the methods of philosophizing.

Direction: Read and understand the statements in every item. Write letter
O if the statement is an opinion and T if it is base truth.
T 1. Currently, we are confronted with the COVID-19 pandemic.
O 2. General Santos City is a Chartered City.
T 3. General Community Quarantine allows residents to enjoy community
entertainment activities.
O 4. COVID-19 pandemic coerced all parents/guardians to stop their child’s
Basic Education learning program for school year 2020-2021.
T 5. The new normal situation brings forth togetherness among the
members of the family.

ACTIVITY 2: How it begins!


Let us consider first the beginning of knowledge.

1. Which of the statements contains truth of an object?


  It is the healthy eyes says: It is white.
2. Why does it contain the truth?
 Among the 3 different eyes, the healthy eyes are what contains the truth
because this is in good condition and wherein, they can be considered as a
perfect eye in itself. The other two have some depicts which is a hindrance for
it to know and tell the truth, hence, it can consider as an opinion.

Activity 3: Search Me!


Direction: Copy an article from the internet, a newspaper, or magazine. Identify
the facts and opinions presented in the article. Determine how you will verify the facts
and opinion stated.

 You'll be able to check the facts if they come from a reputable news
organization or publisher that has been around for a long time. You'll also be
able to confirm the facts if they were issued by the official organization or
agency in charge of the matter. You'll check to see if the opinion is backed up
by reliable facts and numbers while validating it.
