SOLAS II-1/16.2 Requirements are extended to cover ships not covered by damage stability
requirements. In addition, hatches, which are defined as watertight, shall also be tested in the same
way as watertight doors.
SOLAS II-1/19-1 Damage control drills are introduced for passenger ships and shall take place
every three months. Record of damage control drill shall be maintained.
SOLAS II-1/20 Formal requirement for determining stability after loading now also applies to cargo
ships.
SOLAS II-1/21 and 22 Option to let certain watertight doors remain open during navigation is
removed.
SOLAS II-1/24 Editorial changes.
SOLAS II-1/35-1.2.6, .3.4 & .3.10 Reference to Reg II-2/20.6.1.4, drainage and pumping
arrangements, is included in the special hazards associated with fixed pressure water-spraying fire-
extinguishing systems. Also some editorial changes.
SOLAS II-2/3.56 The definition of vehicle carrier has been further specified.
SOLAS II-2/9.4.1.3.4 , 3.5 & .3.6 Fire integrity of windows facing survival craft, embarkation and
assembly stations, etc. is clarified. In effect, fire integrity of such windows on passenger ships <=
36 passengers is relaxed to A0.

SOLAS II-2/20.2.1 Vehicles with fuel in their tanks may be carried in certain cargo spaces provided
compliance with SOLAS II-2/19 and IMDG Code, Reg VII/1.1.
SOLAS II-2/20-1.2.1 The paragraph is updated as a consequence of a new definition of vehicle
carrier as per II-2/3.56.
SOLAS III/1.4 & 30.3 Damage control drills are introduced for passenger ships and shall take place
every three months. Record of damage control drill shall be maintained. Regulation III/1.4 is
amended to ensure that this applies also to vessels constructed before 1 July 1998.
SOLAS III/1.4 & 37.3.9 Muster list and emergency instructions. Regulation III/1.4 is amended to
ensure that this also applies to vessels constructed before 1 July 1998 and that the muster list for
passenger ships should include duties for damage control for flooding emergencies.
SOLAS Appendix in the Record of Equipment (Form P, Form E and Form C) in part 5, item 3.1 is
updated to include "multi-system shipborne radio navigation receiver".
MSC.422(98) IGF Code IGF Code 11.3.2 The requirement for A-0 class divisions for navigation bridge windows has been
removed to harmonize with SOLAS.
