WINTER SESSION EXAM SPEAKING SITUATIONS

A second-year student should be able to say 170 words on each of the following situations
using 70% of the information from the texts and 50 % of the vocabulary given in the
brackets after the situations.

1. Describe how you spend your free time. Tell about your hobbies (use the vocabulary

2. Describe how the members of your family spend their free time. Tell about their

3. Tell about a hobby you would like to start in the future if you had enough money (use

4. Tell about the most common hobbies of teenagers (use the vocabulary on the topic ‘1.4

5. Describe the house of your dreams (use the vocabulary on the topic “II.HOME, SWEET
HOME”).
6. Compare the accommodation offered to Ukrainian students with the one offered to
the students of the University of Warwick (use the information from the text on p. 192-
193 of “A Way to Success” by Тучина Н.В., Жаркова І.В. та ін.; and the vocabulary on
the topic “III. LIVE AND LEARN”).
7. Compare living in a flat and in a detached house. Describe their advantages and
disadvantages (use the vocabulary on the topic “II.HOME, SWEET HOME”).
8. Compare housing in Great Britain, the USA and Ukraine (use the information from
the texts on p. 160-161 of “A Way to Success” by Тучина Н.В., Жаркова І.В. та ін.; and

9. Dwell upon the safety mode at home (use the information from p. 214, Ex 40 “A Way to

10.Dwell upon the saying “The Englishman’s home is his castle” (use the information

11.Dwell upon the importance of cosiness of a house (use the information from the text on

12.Give tips on how to spend quite limited time for relaxation during the weekend to the
