Network Optimization Guideline 2 Preparations for Network Optimization

2 Preparations for Network Optimization

About This Chapter

Preparations for network optimization consists of deciding the optimization team, deciding the
optimization indexes, and making optimization tools ready.

2.1 Deciding the Optimization Team

In preparations for network optimization, learn the optimization personnel who are on site, then
decide the optimization team and team members based on the optimization tasks.
2.2 Deciding the Acceptance Indexes
Pay attention to the key KPIs of a high quality network, such as paging success ratio, call setup
success ratio, call drop ratio, originating and terminating call completion ratio, soft handoff
success ratio, and inter-system handoff success ratio. For the data service and CDMA2000
1xEV-DO network, single subscriber throughput at near point and the access delay must also
be considered.
2.3 Preparations of Optimization Tools
During the preparations for network optimization, make optimization tools, including software
and hardware tools, ready.

Acceptance indexes consist of DT indexes and traffic statistics indexes. According to the
network types, you can put emphasis on different acceptance indexes.
l For a newly deployed network with a few subscribers, DT indexes are dominant.
l For an operating network with some subscribers, both DT indexes and traffic statistics
indexes must be considered as the network acceptance indexes.
