People in many countries spend more and more time far away from their families.

Why does
this happen and what effects will it have on them and their families?

BD1: causes

- The demand of life: dành nhiều thời gian học tập và làm việc => còn lại rất ít thời gian cho
gia đình
- The development of social media and modern devices: thích dành thời gian giải trí trên
mạng xã hội và các thiết bị hiện đại hơn

BD2: effects

- Individuals feel lonely and stressed:

+ sống xa nhà cảm thấy cô đơn, tách biệt với mọi người
+ khó khăn khi phải 1 mình đối mặt với các vấn đề trong cuộc sống
- Weaken family bonds: mọi người ít tương tác hơn => ít thấu hiểu, dễ mâu thuẫn

Several people are spending less time with their families throughout the world. The causes of
this appear to be focused on two areas, and there are two key impacts, which I will outline now.

This trend might stem from two main factors. One of the underlying reasons is the demand of
life, which forces people to dedicate more time to studying and working. Pupils spend their days
at schools and the evenings taking the extra study with tutors. Adults are under the intense
pressure of hectic work schedules. They return home late, work overtime and even work on
weekends to further their careers. Therefore, they do not have many hours left for family
activities. Another cause leading to this is the development of modern entertainment gadgets.
With just a smartphone, people can easily access various fancy things available on the Internet
like social sites, gaming, and shopping. Therefore, most teenagers nowadays choose to spend
their leisure time online rather than contacting with their parents.
Decreasing family time brings adverse influences to both individuals and households. Firstly,
being away from home gives rise to numerous negative emotions. Overseas students, for
instance, commonly experience feelings of loneliness and homesickness since they have a tiny
chance to visit their parents regularly. They may also be stressed when having difficulties
handling several life issues without parents’ guidance and support. The second adverse impact is
the weaker family bonds. Less time spent together means less communication. This might lead to
misunderstandings, conflicts, and even separation in the long run.

In summary, it appears to me that this phenomenon derives from busy lifestyles and technology,
and it has detrimental effects on all family members. (both family and individuals)
