COURSE TITLE : ARTS APPRECIATION

COURSE CODE : HUMA 102

COURSE UNIT : 3 Units

COURSE DESCRIPTION :

Art Appreciation is a three-unit course that develops student ability to appreciate, analyze and critique work of arts through
interdisciplinary and multimodal approaches. This course equip students with knowledge of practical, historical, philosophical and social
relevance of arts which has the ability to articulate more on emotional enjoyment, knowledge and understanding of the universal qualities and
characteristic work of arts. This course may also be used as reference materials for other courses in teaching for the development of an
individual as a whole.

Prerequisites/ co-requisite : None

Course Intended Learning Outcomes :

At the end of the semester, the students should be able to :

1. Demonstrate an understanding and appreciation of arts in general, including their function, value and historical significance.
2. Define and demonstrate the elements and principles of design
3. Explain and evaluate different theories of art
4. Create their own works of art and curate their own production or exhibit.
5. Utilize art for self-expression and for promoting advocacies.
6. Mount an art exhibit (concept development, production and post-production, marketing, documentation, critiquing).
7. Deepen their sensitivity to self, community and society.
8. Discover and deepen their identity through art with respect to their nationality, culture and religion.
9. Develop an appreciation of the local arts.
