Assignment Details:
Students are being asked as a travel agency which plan a vacation for a couple, a family or
an individual (students feel free to select 1 of 3 above) in Ha Noi city within 4D3N. The
detailed requirements are outlined below in the written report assignment details. This is a
great opportunity to enhance your understanding of the hospitality and tourism industry in
real-world situation as opposed to pure theory.

The overall weighting of this assignment is 30% of the total marks for the subject. Although
this will be a group project, students will be assessed individually. The assignment will take
place in two separate forms; a formal written report (60%) and a presentation (40%).

At the third session of the course, your group will select a 4-5 stars hotel based in Ha Noi
city to cooperate. Care should be taken during the selection process, as this will serve as
the backdrop and case on which to apply theoretical concepts for the remaining semester.
Students may, at their own time and cost, visit hotels although this is not mandatory and
will not be reflected in the grades. Should this opportunity be taken, under no
circumstances may the students represent the FPT University and contact any staff
members from the hotels. This opportunity is on the clear understanding that the
assignment is carried out independently as if undertaken by an external business consultant.

THE WRITTEN REPORT ASSIGNMENT DETAILS

Students must report on the following and organize their report and presentation
accordingly:

 Introduction of your travel agency (basic information required such as company name,
logo, ...)
 Compose and analyse the group's customer selection
 Review, comment, and description of the hotel and tourism industry of Ha Noi city at
the moment should be determined
 Introduction of your hotel choice
 Formulate an overall plan of activity for guests at the destination (travelling and inside
hotel activities must both be considered)
 Develop specific plans for your customers (Itinerary)

The situational analysis should be directly related to strategic theoretical approaches used
not only in class, but also in textbooks and academic journals. Please consider in the
feasibility analysis, the hotel’s market segment, and the various risk factors that might be
involved in your planning. Ensure that the report has an introduction and conclusion.

Although the report is compiled of different sections, students must work as a team to
planning and brainstorm the various scenarios and activities. Nevertheless, students must
explicitly state who completed which sections. Ensure that the students share the workload
while compiling the report. The written report should be 6,000-7000 words in total,
depending on the number of students in each group. Students should contribute equally to
the report. Ensure that APA Referencing is used.

Guidelines for written assignments

1. The written reports must be completed using Microsoft Word only.


2. Your student name and number must be clearly stated at the top of each page of
your work.

3. A signed declaration that the work is your own (apart from otherwise referenced
acknowledgements) must be included after the title page of your assignment
4. Each page must be numbered.
5. Where appropriate, a contents page, a list of tables/figures and a list of
abbreviations should precede your work.
6. All referencing must adhere to FPT requirements. (APA system)
7. All tables and figures must be correctly numbered and labelled.
8. Assignments should be no longer than 1,000 (+/-10%) words per student. Work in
excess will be penalized. Students are required to include the word count on the
title page of the report.
9. Assignments must be word-processed. They should be printer in black and
white, Arial font, size, 11 points with 1.5 line spacing.
10. Assignment should not contain superfluous pictures. Only diagrams, which add
to the content, should be included.
11. Assignment should be properly referenced. Description is not enough a
thorough critical analysis is required. The assignment will be marked
according to attached faculty guidelines.
12. Plagiarism will be severely penalized. (0 point)

THE PRESENTATIONS ASSIGNMENT DETAILS


Presentations will include an up to 30-minute portrayal of the report with another 10 - 15
minutes for question time. Group members must present their own sections that they
created. Each presentation is unlimited number of slides (should not more than 40).
Presentations will take place in front of the HMO lecturer and second marker (no mandatory);
All of students other than the group presenting will need to attend.

by the complicated situation of the Covid-19 epidemic, until now, everything has gradually

The name FAM is inspired by the fact that our company aspires to be a big family and takes care
of our customers like family members. In addition, "FAM" is an abbreviation of the English word
"FAMILY" which means family. In branding our company, word of mouth is an effective and cost-
effective way of marketing that is easily accessible to customers. As a result, the shorter the name,
the easier it is to read and remember. This makes our hotel name more relatable, easier to remember
and most importantly, increases brand awareness. That's why FAM was created as a short, easy-
to-pronounce nickname for both domestic and international travelers, making it easier for
customers to remember the hotel's brand name and access hotel information. about package tours
as well as other service programs of our company such as promotions. Above all, "FAM" also
implies that when our company's name is mentioned, people think of FAMILY, the family that

Our company logo is designed simply with its own special meaning. The logo has green and blue
tones as the main tones, these colors are the colors of the leaves, the color of the sky is really close
to nature, giving you the feeling of getting rid of work pressure, the worries of life to enjoy the trip.
The middle part of the symbol represents the mountains and the sea with the implication that we
will accompany customers everywhere, wherever they want to go. Above the logo is the name of
the company, which is designed in a prominent font. Below the logo is the company's slogan
designed in a flexible curvilinear typeface. The overall meaning of the logo that we want to talk
about is our companionship with our customers on each of your journeys whether to the forest or

Sightseeing tourism is an activity of moving away from the place you live to go to a new place in
order to meet the needs of relaxation, convalescence, study, and experience in a new place. In
addition to the sightseeing tour model, our company also wants to develop in the direction of
culinary tourism. The company will link up with locals to know the delicious restaurants that locals
often choose to enjoy. This will help guests have real experiences about dishes prepared by locals.

2. Compose and analyze the customer selection (Vien, Quynh)


After a period of surveying, analyzing people's behavior, needs, and current market trends, our
FAM Tourist Agency decided to choose the target customer group which is family - this is also the
target group of customers a key customer that our company wants to target (Cam Luyen, 2021). As
we all know, today, life is becoming busier and busier with many worries and pressures, everyone

is caught up in the wheel of work (Cam Luyen, 2021). Therefore, family members have little time
to chat or entertain with the family. Besides, with the condition of increasing and stable income,
most of the households, when they have a vacation, often plan and take time to travel after their
busy schedules to enjoy their vacation rest and spend time together (Thao Nguyen, 2019). The
customer that our company is in charge of designing this tour is a family of 4 members: young
parents and two children (namely a 14-year-old boy and a 10-year-old girl). Their aim is not only
to discover new things about travel but also to spend time with their children having fun as a whole
family and making wonderful memories (Thao Nguyen, 2019). Moreover, today's technology is
increasingly developed, families have more opportunities to learn about travel, they have countless
options for their travel (Minh Kha - XIMGO, 2020). Our FAM Tourist Agency recognizes that the
family travel trend has strong growth potential. In addition, after a period of planned trips were
delayed due to the impact of the covid-19 pandemic, most families cherish the moments together
more (Hoaitt, 2020). Therefore, this is the time for families to continue making their travel plans,
so they are looking forward to the upcoming trip as an opportunity for family members to bond
more. We will develop new packages and exciting travel activities that help families have
unforgettable experiences together (Hoaitt, 2020). By focusing on this customer, we can bring high
revenue, sustainable development and also stimulate tourism demand to increase faster in the future
(Minh Kha - XIMGO, 2020).
Our goal is to help our clients save time when deciding where to stay and visit, what to eat and how
to get around. Firstly, a stay of at least 3 days 2 nights or 4 days 3 nights is the perfect itinerary for
the whole family, because the longer they stay in Hanoi, the more they can experience the feeling
of relaxation in the heart of Hanoi, as well as suitable to play. Since we have young children in our
family, we decided to give them a short excursion rather than a big trip. Since children are very
sensitive to changes in the weather, the best time for the whole family to visit Hanoi is from
September to November or March to April, when the weather is mild and pleasant too hot or dry.
In particular, autumn is the most beautiful season of the year. Second, we encourage families to
travel with open tours. They can rent a car to go to tourist attractions in Hanoi or surrounding areas.
This allows the family to walk around with the kids and end the tour whenever they want. They
also have a private residence for the family, allowing them to save money while still enjoying a

3. Describe the hospitality and tourism industry of Ha Noi city at the moment
(Nhu, Vien)
3.1. Hospitality industry of Ha Noi city at the moment
The luxury hotel market in Vietnam in general and Hanoi, in particular, plays an important role in
the national economic development and is an important market segment of the large developing
cities in Vietnam (Ha Van Sieu, 2021). The past two years have been challenging times for the
hospitality and tourism industry, leading to a really tough period for hotels, restaurants, and tourist
accommodation establishments (Ha Van Sieu, 2021). At a time when Vietnam is gradually easing
restrictions due to the pandemic and bringing the economy back to life with recovery measures and
stimulus packages, the tourism industry is expected to step up as well (Ha Van Sieu, 2021). Along
with the resumption of tourism, hotel businesses across the country in general and in Hanoi in
particular also begin to have "new steps" in this "new normal" era (Patrick Verove, 2021). These
are good signs at the moment. The hotel business in Hanoi has made proposals on innovating and
diversifying new products, focusing on health, safety, nature, and authentic experiences developed
to match new trends in tourism demand (Patrick Verove, 2021). Assure customers that they can

Hanoi Department of Tourism will focus on researching and building breakthrough and attractive
products to meet the new needs and tastes of tourists in the new period. In addition, the Capital's
tourism will strengthen links with businesses to promote, cooperate, exploit and develop the
tourism market. Promote cooperation with a number of key provinces and cities such as Ho Chi
Minh City, Da Nang to build and develop strong tours of Hanoi such as Tourism combining
conferences, seminars, exhibitions, tourism resort, health care ... at the same time coordinate with
domestic and international media units to promote the image of the capital's tourism, ready to
welcome international tourists under the direction of the Government (Mai, 2022).

According to the Director of the Hanoi Department of Tourism, in order to well implement the
plan, in the immediate future, Hanoi will focus on upgrading the quality of tourism products
associated with heritages, relics, craft villages... at the same time, piloting a number of models of
agricultural and rural tourism development towards green tourism. It is necessary to prepare
attractive tourism products to welcome guests, but the units still have to strictly implement safety
measures in the prevention and control of the Covid-19 epidemic (Mai, 2022).

3.2. Current tourism industry in Hanoi city


Hanoi has always been one of the two major tourist centers, playing an important role in the
development of Vietnam's tourism industry (Vietnam tourism, 2021).

Recently, there are relics in Hanoi, including important historical sites such as the Temple of
Literature, Imperial Citadel of Thang Long... is not open to welcome guests, because visitors go to
the ecological area, where there is a large space, both to visit, to experience and to combine with
flexible activities at the beginning of the year. Phoenix Garden, Dan Phuong Ecological Area, Ba

for the development of entertainment tourism, sports tourism, eco-tourism, agricultural tourism...

5.2 Overview journey to discover HaNoi City
Tour 4 days 3 nights in the capital Hanoi - a land of thousands of years of civilization, imbued with

In this journey, the first place visitors will visit is Ba Dinh Square with the most prominent work

is buried (Luyen Nguyen, 2019) . It is a mistake to come to Hanoi but not visit Hoan Kiem Lake

We learned how to organize the places and control the timeline in our tour plan while working
on this assignment so that we can provide the most streamlined experience for our customers.
