ESME PLAYED BY ANOUSKA HALL
MAUREEN PLAYED BY CHARLOTTE WILSON
OLIVERS MUM PLAYED BY MAUREEN CORCORAN

INT. LIVING ROOM – EVENING

SOUND: PIANO PLAYING.

Maureen is sat with Esme playing the piano. Esme observes as Maureen plays, she looks so
hypnotised by the music and feels overwhelmed with joy as she plays. As the song goes on, it
takes a major key in the music. Esme starts to look more concerned as it goes on. Maureen is
gone, she is sat looking at the piano. She has left her side.

EXT. FOREST – DAYTIME

Esme walks through the woods by herself. There is no noise other than nature. She looks
numb. Not just on the outside. She looks numb from the inside out. As she walks she has
flashbacks to her and Maureen previously walking through the woods. She slows his steps
down and comes to a stop. She stops in her tracks and observes the nature and the pond in
front of her

EXT. FRONT OF HOUSE – DAYTIME

KITCHEN

Esme walks to the door and takes herself inside. Her Mother is cooking in the kitchen.

Esme puts her coat on the chair.

Esme walks towards the living room as her mum watches her walk away. She walks through
the living room door, past the piano and up to her room.

INT. BEDROOM – AFTERNOON.

She slumps herself down on his bed and stares at the ceiling for a little while. She picks up
her phone and goes onto Spotify, she scrolls through her playlist and picks a song. It’s a
piano song. She starts to play it and looks unsettled. She picks himself up and walks out the
room.

INT. LIVING ROOM – AFTERNOON.

Esme walks over to the piano and strokes the top of it. She lifts off the cover and stands
staring at it. Esme’s mum walks in and looks at her. Esme has not noticed, she looks up and
sees her. The music drains out and she moves away from the piano back to his room.
INT. KITCHEN – MORNING.

Esme walks through the kitchen and picks up her bag.

Esme has shut the door before her mum gets the chance to speak.

EXT. ROAD – MORNING.

Esme walks down the road towards a bus stop and sits there, you can feel how lonely she
feels.

EXT. TOWN – DAYTIME.

Esme walks through town and doesn’t move her eyes from the floor as she walks. She begins
to hear music play very vaguely in the background. She stops and looks around. She begins to
look scared, and tries to walk towards where the music is coming from. She begins to walk
by the river and can still hear the music, she looks into the distance and begins to look
overwhelmed with fear, but it changes to happiness. She sees Maureen in the distance. She is
sat on a bench listening to music. She goes and sits down next to her, she takes an earphone
out and gives it to her.

The camera pans around and reveals she is not there. Oliver looks to his side and he realises.
She doesn’t look as phased as she should. She almost looks, relieved.

The music begins to play again. This time she doesn’t react to it. She gets up, and begins to
walk by himself. She walks through the greenery. This time she seems a lot more at peace
than previously. Less alone.

INT. BEDROOM – DAYTIME.

She closes his eyes, and he wakes up in her bed. Goes downstairs and the whole atmosphere
changes, comfortable. She feels comfortable.
