1. You install the NOS directly from the CD-ROM distribution discs on the server’s CD-ROM drive.
However, you can also install the operating system from a shared drive located on another computer,
provided that the server computer already has access to the network. You can either use a shared CD-
ROM disc onto a shared hard drive.
2. Yes. After you’ve physically connected the server computer to the network, you can install the
network operating system (NOS) on the server. Regardless of which network operating system you
choose to use for your network servers, you can use any of the common ways to actually install the NOS
software on the server computer.
