Figure 3

THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THE EFFECTS OF SOCIAL MEDIA IN

ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE OF GRADE 9 STUENTS

The polygraph gives information above about the Effects of Social Media towards
the Academic Performance of Grade 9 students of San Miguel National High during the
first quarter.

As observed in the graph, 23 student from the class have same score of using
social media which is 1 to 9 hours but they have different grades 83,84,86, 87, 88, 89,
90, 91, 92 and 93 accordingly. On the other hand, another 6 students from the class
have the same score of using social media which is 10 to 12 hours but they have
different grades 77, 79,80,87 and 88.

The Null Hypothesis is rejected so that there is a slight negative correlation. It’s state
that when the time spend of using social media increases, the grades slightly decrease
and when the time of using social media decreases, the grades slightly increases.
Hence, the time spend using social media and grades are inversely proportional.
