Prosedural Text Paper

“ How to make shredded beef fried noodles”

CHAPTER I
PRELIMINARY

A. Background
In our daily lives we do a lot of activities. From each of these activities, can be told
to others. In telling them there are various ways of delivering them, one of them using
them using text. In this 2103 curriculum, the procedural text becomes mandatory material
that is taught for 11th grade high school. To fulfill this task, we made a paper on text
procedures.

B. Problem Formulation
Based on the background above, the formulation of the problem is as follows:
1. What is the procedure text?
2. What are the general structures of the procedure text?
3. What is the purpose of the procedure text?
4. What is the linguistic characteristic of the procedure text.
C. Purpose
This writing aims to:
1. Meet the duties of English subjects.
2. Knowing the meaning of the procedure text.
3. Know the structure of the procedure text.
4. Knowing the purpose of the procedure text.
5. Knowing the linguistic characteristics of the procedure text.
6. Can make examples of procedure text.
CHAPTER II
THEORY AND DISCUSSION

1. Definition of Procedure Text


There are three definition about procedure text :
a) Texts that explain how something works or how to use instruction / operation
manuals, e.g. how to use the video, the computer, the tape recorder, the photocopier,
the fax.
b) Texts that instruct how to do a particular activity, e.g. recipes, rules for games,
science experiments, road safety rules.
c) Texts that deal with human behavior, e.g how to live happily, how to succeed.

2. Generic Structure of Procedure Text


a) Aim or Goal : (e.g : How to make spaghetti)
b) Material or Ingredient : (e.g : the material to cook omelette are egg, onion, vegetable
oil, etc.)
c) Step : (e.g : first, wash the tomatoes, onion, ….,second cut the onions becomes
slice..)

3. Purpose of Procedure Text


To explain/tell (the reader) how to make/operate/do something through a sequence of
actions or steps.
To explain steps/instruction to make/operate/do something

4. Languange Feature of Procedure Text

a. Use adverbial of sequence / Using temporal conjunction (e.g: first, second, third, the
last)
b. Use command / imperative sentence (e.g : put the noodles on the . . ., cut the
onion. . ., wash the tomatoes. . . )
c. Using adverbials (Adverbs) to express detail the time, place, manner accurate, for
example, for five minutes, 2 hours, etc.
d. Using action verbs, e.g : make, take, boil, cook
e. Using Simple Present Tens.

5. Examples of Procedure Text

How To Make Shredded Beef Fried Noodles


Ingredient :
1) 2 chilies
2) 3 cloves of red onion
3) 2 cloves of garlic
4) Flavoring
5) Noodles
6) Soy sauce
7) Shredded beef
8) 1 cayenne pepper
9) Sausage

Ways of making :

a) The first step: prepare the ingredients that have been served
b) second step: slice the onion and white bottom as well as red chili and cayenne
c) Step three: boil water until it boils
d) fourth step: after the water boils, put the noodles into the stew wait for a few
minutes so that the noodles are not raw
e) fifth step: remove the cooked noodles and drain and let stand a few minutes so
that the noodles cool the
f) sixth step: after the noodles are cold, mix the soy sauce into the noodles, stir until
evenly distributed
g) seventh step: turn on the fire, and fry the onion, garlic, cayenne pepper, red chili,
and sausage until golden brown
h) eighth step: after it is cooked, put the noodles that have been mixed with soy
sauce into the fried ingredients
i) ninth step: stir evenly so that the spices seep into the noodles, don't forget to add
flavoring
j) tenth step: add the shredded beef into the noodles, stir briefly and turn off the
stove
k) eleventh step: serve the noodles, and add a little sprinkle of shredded beef on top
of the noodles twelfth step: beef shredded fried noodles is ready to be served
