Opportunities and Hurdles of Indian Toy Industry: A case study-based SWOT Analysis.

3) Project Objective

To study and document the overall structure of Indian Toy Industry. To measure the productivity
and competitiveness of the toy industry in India Vis a Vis China with a view to identify the factors
responsible for the success of the toy sector in China and to recommend adoption of relevant factors in
India. To develop a SWOT profile for the Indian Toy industry. Identify the major problems faced by
Indian Toy Industry after the liberalization of the economy through an all India field survey of
manufacturing units.

4) Methodology to be adopted

The research study has been focused on secondary sources of data and literature. The data and
literature have been compiled from both published and unpublished literature sources for the last six
years with a view to understand the growth and development of toy manufacturing in the country.
5) Brief Summary of project:

Start-Ups are nowadays given more value and authenticity as well. Even the Government of India is also
supporting budding entrepreneurs and their start-ups. The study report has been divided into several
parts. Introduction will be provided in the first page of the project. It includes background, objectives of
the study, data source and methodology followed for undertaking the study. It also explains structure of
Indian toy industry and explains the traditional toy industries and modern toy industries. It also
discusses productivity and growth of registered toy manufacturing sector based on the secondary data
compiled from Annual Survey of Industries (ASI) registered toy manufacturing units.
It shows position of India with respect to other countries in terms of market share spending per kid etc.
It also explains the toy industry in China. It explains SWOT analysis of Indian toy industry. Toxicity and
Safety of toys are discussed in the project. It analyses field survey findings of the toy manufacturing
units for both categories of toy sector i.e. modern and traditional toy sector. Concerns of the Indian toy
industry based on the feedback received during the National Seminar. Lastly, it includes summary and
recommendations emanating from the study.
