Conclusion
Since not all drugs or medications are commercially made available as a powder and most
of the dosage strengths that are needed by patients with problems in taking tablets such as trouble in
swallowing, methods are being innovated to be done to prepare medications needed for the treatment
and condition of the patient. In this laboratory activity, we have learned that through the block and
divide method, drugs or medications in tablet forms can further be prepared as divided powder for it to
be available for patients needing certain strengths of medication or have troubles in swallowing since
their needed dose or type of dosage form of a drug or medication is not commercially made available.
Furthermore, through this activity, we were able to get acquainted with one of the roles of a
pharmacist, especially in the community and hospital setting, where drugs or medications from tablets
are powdered thus prepared into divided powders or chartulae.

As a future pharmacist, being able to know how to prepare a drug through the block and
divide method is one of the skills that should be practiced and equipped by the students for them to
provide the optimum care and service to the patients as we address their necessities base on their
condition and age. This laboratory activity will enable us to be well equipped with the skills that are
expected for us to possess especially in the practice of community and hospital pharmacy settings.
Thanks!
