identify the purpose and types of activities for the lesson delivery for listening and

performance standards in the DSKP.

TEACHING READING (B)

● integrate the Civics Education module into your reading lessons. 
● design activities for a reading lesson. 
● identify appropriate assessment strategies for reading based on the performance standards  in
the DSKP.

Session 8 
TEACHING WRITING (A)
Learning Outcomes 

You will be able to: 


● gain an overview of the content and learning standards for writing in the DSKP.
● identify the purpose and types of activities for the writing task (PPP Strategy). ●
identify and design opportunities for scaffolding activities for the presentation and 
practice tasks of writing lessons. 
Success Criteria

∙ state what a Year 6 pupil should be able to do after 


completing the Primary English Language  Curriculum.

∙ determine the relevance of lesson delivery  activities


suggested in the Scheme of Work for a  3-stage plan for
writing lesson (PPP Strategy).

∙ assess whether presentation and practice  activities


suggested in the Scheme of Work  adequately prepare
pupils for writing in the  production stage.

∙ explain how the previous reading lesson provide  support


for writing in the next lesson.

Session 9 
TEACHING WRITING (B)

● plan a 3-stage writing skills lesson. 
● adapt a textbook unit to teach writing. 
● identify appropriate strategies to assess writing.

∙ adapt a textbook unit to teach writing by  identifying the


relevant Learning  Standards, suggesting suitable
activities,  and designing additional materials if 
necessary.

∙ design a 3-stage PPP writing lesson plan  based on a


textbook Unit.

∙ identify appropriate assessment strategies  for writing


in a lesson.

Session 10 
ASSESSMENT 
Learning Outcomes 

You will be able to: 

● state the characteristics of classroom-based assessment for the Malaysian primary 


ESL classroom. 
● select appropriate assessment strategies for listening, speaking, reading and
writing.  ● describe pupils’ expected performance for different Performance Levels
based on the  performance standards in the DSKP.

REVIEWING PRACTICE THROUGH  
VIDEO (A)

REVIEWING PRACTICE THROUGH

● evaluate your own teaching practices for further improvement.
