Grant Final Document
We have chosen to write a grant for professional development related to iReady Math. According to a Local School Technology
Coordinator, this program is new to Gwinnett County Public Schools in the 2021-2022 school year, so most teachers have not been
trained on how to properly utilize it. The intention is that the program will be used to provide differentiated instruction independently,
will guide teachers on grouping for small group instruction, and will serve as a source of data and intervention for students in the Early
Intervention Program. The survey we conducted on September 30th 2021 indicated that of the teachers that were given access to the
program, 94% were using it in the classroom, but only 4% felt that they understood all of the instructional materials and data provided
by the program. The goal is for 100% of the teachers who use this program within their classrooms understand the instructional
materials and data, therefore it is identified that 96% of the teachers need more comprehensive training.
Goal 1:
By the end of the current 9 week marking period, 100% of the teachers using iReady Math in the classroom for independent work will
feel confident accessing the data available in the program and will consistently use that data to guide whole and small group
instruction.
Goal 2:
By the end of the current 9 week marking period, 100% of the teachers using iReady Math in the classroom for independent work will
also be utilizing the instructional tools provided in the iReady Toolbox to assist their teaching in whole and small group instruction.
Goal 3:
By the end of the current 9 week marking period, 100% of the teachers with access to iReady Math will be utilizing it in the classroom
during small group independent time for 45 minutes a week.
Task 2:
Based on the needs and goals of our educators, it was determined that it would be most beneficial to invite a Curriculum
Associates iReady trainer to provide direct training on the iReady program. This training will be split into three days covering the
initial diagnostic through to what data is provided and how to examine it, ending with how to implement the teaching resources in
your classroom for whole group instruction, small group instruction, and individually personalized instruction. Each session will take
place after school on Professional Development afternoons. Ideally, there would be 2-3 weeks between each session to allow teachers
time to implement and practice the previous session’s work before moving on. The goal is to complete this training within a 2 month
period to avoid losing instructional time and potential due to not knowing all resources available. The training will be delivered to all
classroom teachers and support staff that provide math instruction at once. Within the training, teachers will be grouped by grade level
for opportunities to have discussions within the training.
Activities
Day 1 Topic: Program Overview (Why the program is important, how we can use it, when we can use it), and Assessment
(Diagnostic Instructions, Class Report, Individual Report)
● Educators will take the iReady diagnostic demo provided by the company themselves to better understand how the tool will work
for their students.
● Educators will learn how to administer the diagnostic for reliable student data.
○ The Curriculum Associates iReady trainer will review how to prepare students for the diagnostic assessment.
○ Educators will be shown how the adjusted questioning is determined for students and how students’ present levels are
determined from the diagnostic exam.
○ The Curriculum Associates iReady trainer will also review the nuances of the diagnostic assessment, such as what
questions are read to students and how the game break/brain breaks are determined.
○ - Educators will be trained on how to monitor the diagnostic status of students as they would through the assessment over
the course of several days.
● As time permits, educators will further explore iReady Personalized Instruction and iReady growth measures.
○ Teachers will dive deep into the diagnostic result reports and the information provided within each report. First they will
look at how the class reports section is broken down and the information it provides. Then teachers will examine how a
student’s individual report is compiled including how the typical and stretch growth projections are measured as well as the
“can do” and “next steps” sections of the reports are developed.
Day 2 Topic: Teacher Resources (Teacher Toolbox, Manipulatives, Small Group Resources, Wholes Group Resources)
● The Curriculum Associates iReady trainer will show teachers how to access the teacher toolbox and resources provided through
iReady.
○ The educators will explore the teacher toolbox and tools for instruction. They will work in groups based on grade
and/or content area to explore and notices and findings. The Curriculum Associates iReady trainer will then show
teachers how to find the interactive materials/manipulatives, practice sheets for students with teacher copies for whole
group and small group instruction.
○ The Curriculum Associates iReady trainer will show and explain to educators how to look at different grade levels of
assignments, where to find prerequisite lessons to reteach skills, and how to use the resources to create student-led
small groups.
● Additional time left in the session will be dedicated to educators looking at the data of their classes and planning with that data.
Day 3 Topic: Online Instruction (Teacher Assigned, My Pathway) and Planning Time
● The Curriculum Associates iReady trainer will teach educators how to further personalize iReady for their students by
explaining how students’ “My Pathway” works with assigning lessons based on their skills from the diagnostic assessment.
The Curriculum Associates iReady trainer will also cover ways for students to track their own data and progress and ways to
incorporate data talks with students.
● The Curriculum Associates iReady trainer will also teach educators where and why they can assign a lesson to students that
would not typically be in the students’ pathway. The Curriculum Associates iReady trainer will give teachers a set of example
data and they will work in groups to decide what needs to be assigned and a rationale for why. Coming back together as a
group, The Curriculum Associates iReady trainer will discuss why, from an iReady viewpoint, a teacher should assign a
lesson. The Curriculum Associates iReady trainer will then show educators the process to assign a lesson and how to look at
results.
● Additional time left in this session will be left for planning with the assistance of the Curriculum Associates iReady trainer.
Pricing
The iReady Program has a specific cost for 150 student accounts minimum. Can note bought for homeschool and private
school usage. According to EdSurge, iReady Diagnostic starts at $6 per student, per year. Licenses for the combination of iReady
Diagnostic and iReady instruction start at $30 per student, per student, per subject, per year” (EdSurge

$2,000 per session. If a package of 3 sessions per school is purchased, the price is a total of $3,500. For our professional development
needs, we will be purchasing 3 sessions. The licensing for iReady Diagnostic and iReady Instruction has been purchased through
instructional funds and therefore not included within this proposal budget.
The training sessions will take place after school on staff meeting/professional development afternoons. No substitutes or
additional stipend will be necessary to conduct this training session. Any equipment necessary for presentation is already provided
within the building. Since this professional development will take place within the school, no travel expenses will be accrued.

Task 3:
To assess or evaluate the training, we will conduct surveys and data collections throughout each of the sessions. Entering
session 2 and session 3, educators will be asked to complete a survey based on the information learned from the previous session and
the educators’ implementation of the information within the classroom since the previous session. The implementation and results
evaluation for session 3 will be sent out to staff members 2 weeks after the session to gain their feedback on how they have been
implementing the information learned in session 3. At that point, teachers will also provide data on their students on focus time for a
