What are the advantages and disadvantages of e-learning?

Nowadays, due to the pandemic that is occuring, lots of schools and universities
have been closed and changed into virtual classroom. It brings many benefits, but
there are also some drawbacks that come along with. This essay will discuss both
views.
There are some positive aspects of online learning, one of which is providing a
flexible timing schedule learning for students. They are able to learn their desired
course and subjects on their suitable time. This gives a great opportunity for
learners to gain new skills and upgrade their knowledge level while still staying in
their own place. Another thing is that it improves student attendence. Most of the
time students will stay at home, especially under this pandemic, so it is very likely
that they will not miss any classes.
However, studying online has some negative aspects. The most noticeable is
probably the distraction. Lectures can be boring sometimes and instead of staying
and trying to understand them, students will probably tab out and even play music
or watch some movies to entertain themselves. Even some of the students will just
let the computer open and go to sleep. Another drawback is the poor tranmission.
This occurs plenty of time, causing lots of trouble for both teachers and students.
For instance, during a learning session, a student loses the Internet connection and
gets kick out of the system. However, the teachers doesn’t know and may think
this is a way for students to skip classes, so that student will be considered absent
that day. Or during the lecture, the Internet connection suddenly lags, students
couldn’t hear what the teacher was talking about.
In conclusion, online courses have their up sides and their down sides. It could be
an effective tool for both teachers and students if they use it correctly.
