This section describes the procedures for installing RRU and ODM cables.
NOTE
If a cable listed below is not required, skip the cabling requirements of the cable.
Cable binding
l Cables of the same type must be bound together.
l Different types of cables must be separately laid out and bound, with a minimum
distance of 30 mm from each other.
l Cables must be bound tightly and neatly. The sheaths of cables must not be damaged.
l Cable ties must face the same direction, and those at the same horizontal line must be in
a straight line.
l The excess of indoor cable ties must be cut off. The excess of 5 mm of outdoor cable ties
should be reserved, and the cut surfaces must be smooth without sharp edges.
l After cables are installed, labels or nameplates must be attached to the cables at their
ends, curves, or interconnection positions.
Safety
l When laying out cables, avoid sharp objects, for example sharp edges on the wall. If
necessary, use tubes to protect the cables.
l When laying out cables, keep cables away from heat sources, or use heat insulation
materials to insulate the cables from the heat sources.
l Reserve a proper distance (0.1 m is recommended) between equipment and cables
especially at the cable curves to maintain the cables and equipment.
Indoor cabling
l Route each cable into the room through the feeder window.
l Reserve drip loops for all cables outside the feeder window before routing them into the
room. Ensure that the radius of the drip loops is greater than or equal to the minimum
bending radius of the cables.
l When routing cables into a room, ensure that a person is assisting you in the room.
l Apply waterproof treatment to the feeder window.

cables
l After routing DC power cables onto the platform on a tower, route them along the
shortest path to the rails surrounding the platform, and route them along the inside of the
rails.
l After routing DC power cables close to the equipment on a tower, use clips to secure the
power cables on a pole or the rails surrounding the platform. Ensure that there is no
excessively long distance between the equipment and the position where the power
cables are secured.
Cabling of PGND cables
l PGND cables for a base station must be connected to the same ground bar.
l PGND cables must be buried in the ground or routed indoors. They must not be routed
overhead before they are led into the equipment room.
l The exterior of the coaxial wire and the shield layer of the shielded cable must have
proper electrical contact with the metal surface of the equipment to which they are
connected.
l PGND cables and signal cables must be installed separately. A certain distance must be
reserved between them to prevent interference from each other.
l Switches or fuses must not be installed on PGND cables.
l Other devices must not be used for electrical connections of PGND cables.
l All the metal parts in the housing of the equipment must be properly connected to the
ground terminal.
Cabling of optical cables and photoelectric hybrid cables
l At least three persons are required for laying out optical cables and photoelectric hybrid
cables. The cabling activities are allowed only when qualified personnel and
communication facilities are available.
l The operating temperature of optical cables and photoelectric hybrid cables ranges from
-40°C to +60°C. If the actual temperature is beyond this range, take protective measures
or select another route.
l Optical cables and photoelectric hybrid cables must be led to target positions by slowly
and evenly turning the cable drum. It is recommended that a 5 m to 15 m length be led
every minute. Do not place the cable drum upside down and manually lead out the
cables.
Figure 12-5 Correct and incorrect routing of optical cables and photoelectric hybrid cables
l Do not bind optical cables and photoelectric hybrid cables at the position where they
bend.
l Do not stretch, step on, or place heavy objects on optical cables and photoelectric hybrid
cables. Keep the cables away from sharp objects.
l The excess of the optical cables and photoelectric hybrid cables must be coiled around
special devices, such as a fiber coiler.
l When coiling optical cables and photoelectric hybrid cables, apply even strength. Do not
bend the cables with force.
l After routing optical cables and photoelectric hybrid cables onto the platform on a tower,
route them along the shortest path to the rails surrounding the platform, and route them
along the inside of the rails.
l After routing optical cables and photoelectric hybrid cables close to the equipment on a
tower, use cable clips to secure the cables on a pole or the rails surrounding the platform.
Ensure that the cables are secured every 1 m to 1.5 m.
l When routing optical cables and photoelectric hybrid cables across buildings, the cabling
activities must be performed by multiple persons (see Figure 12-8). The minimum
bending radius must be guaranteed for cables routed at corners and turns. If routed
overhead for more than 1.5 m, the cables must be laid out along stainless steel wires and
tied every 1 m to 1.5 m.
l At corners and turns, optical cables and photoelectric hybrid cables must be laid out by
an appointed person to ensure they are not blocked or stuck. The minimum bending
radius must be guaranteed.
l If routed close to a device but excessively long, the cables must be coiled and secured.
l Optical jumpers must be bound using binding straps. If optical cables need to be secured
on a cabinet or device, bind them with binding straps and then use cable ties to secure the
binding straps to the cabinet or device. Ensure that the cables can flexibly move in the
cable ties. Do not bend the cables sharply.

1 The installation position of each device strictly complies with the engineering
design and meets clearance requirements. Sufficient space is reserved for
equipment maintenance.
4 Waterproof blocks are securely installed in vacant cable troughs of the RRU
cabling cavity, and the cover plate of the cabling cavity is securely installed. In
addition, vacant RF ports are covered with dustproof caps and the caps are
tightened.
6 The terminals at both ends of each power cable and PGND cable are securely
soldered or crimped.
8 Power cables and PGND cables are separately bound from other cables.
9 The protection grounding of the RRU and the surge protection grounding of the
building share one group of ground conductors.
10 The connectors on each signal cable are intact and securely connected, and these
cables are not damaged or broken.
11 Labels are correct, legible, and complete at both ends of each cable, feeder, and
jumper.
NOTICE
After you unpack an RRU, you must power on it within 24 hours. If you power off the RRU
for maintenance, you must restore power to the RRU within 24 hours.
NOTE
l If an RRU is working properly, the RUN indicator is on for 1s and off for 1s and the ALM indicator
is steady off.
l The normal input voltage of an AC RRU is 220 V, and therefore the voltage of the external power
supply should range from 140 V AC to 300 V AC.

Context
Figure 16-14 shows materials related to a one-hole OT terminal and a power cable.
Figure 16-15 shows materials related to a two-hole OT terminal and a power cable.
Procedure
Step 1 Based on the cross-sectional area of the cable conductor, strip a part of the insulation layer
("C"). The L1-long conductor ("D") is exposed, as shown in Figure 16-16. The recommended
values of L1 are listed in Table 16-1.
NOTICE
l When you strip a power cable, do not damage the conductor of the cable.
l If the bare crimping terminal is not provided by Huawei, the value of L1 is 1 mm to 2 mm
greater than the value of L.
l Install OT terminals to the power cable immediately after stripping a length of insulation
sheath off a power cable. Otherwise, the bare wires may disperse from the center of the
cable, which affects the installation of OT terminals.
l If the bare wires disperse and OT terminals cannot be installed, cut off the bare wires, strip
another length of insulation sheath off the cable, and add OT terminals to the cable.

l Figure 16-30 shows the minimum length of the sheaths to be stripped off the cables.
l Ensure that wires do not split during cable stripping.
Step 2 Use a screwdriver to push the sliding block until the in-position mark is completely exposed,
as shown in Figure 16-31.
Step 3 Insert conducting wires, with the positive power cable connected to hole 1 (+) and negative
power cable connected to hole 2 (–), as shown in Figure 16-32.
NOTICE
l Before powering on a device, ensure that the positive and negative poles of all power
cables are correctly connected. Any incorrect power cable connection may cause damage
to equipment or unexpected injuries of human body.
l The depth of the conducting wires into the hole should be not less than 11 mm (0.43 in.).
Step 4 Push back the sliding blocks until they are in position. Then, check whether the conducting
wires are secure by gently pulling the cables, as shown in Figure 16-33. If a conducting wire
slides outward or a core wire is exposed outside the hole, remove the conducting wire, cut the
split wires, and then strip the sheath and install the conducting wire again.
----End
NOTICE
l The conducting wires should be in the center of the holes, as shown in Figure 16-34.
l The conducting wires should be perpendicular to the holes, as shown in Figure 16-35.
