Topic:
Based on the experience of Google’s OXYGEN research project (Case Study 1, page 320 of your
textbook) and drawing on five key course concepts (ch1- ch8) and external research, establish
the following statement/thesis:

Supervisors do matter at Google

Guidelines:
 You are required to prepare this assignment with one of your class mate. It is your
responsibility to pick/choose your buddy for the assignment.
 Your assignment will be evaluated based on your ability to articulate relevant research
findings of Google’s OXYZEN project and integrate them with five key course concepts
(from chapter 1-8) in establishing your argument(s).
 You may need to do some research on Google’s OXYZEN project. Use reliable journal
and practitioner articles from internet/TrentU online library resources (Maximum 4
external resources)
 Refer your sources as “in-text citation” in the body of the essay and provide a “list of
references” of the sources used in your text at the end of your assignment. (list of
reference is not included in line limits)
 Organize your essay (as an academic writing) using APA (American Psychological
Association) Guidelines. You can learn more about APA formatting/guidelines from the

 Do not utilize your assignment space with general information about Google. Go straight
to the point.
Instructions:
 Word limit 1300 excluding list of references. Use 12 point font, Times New Roman, 1.5
space between lines.
 You do not need a cover page. Simply mention your names and IDs (you and your
partner) at the top of your assignment.
 Any one of you need to upload your work in the created Assignment titled “Assignment”
in the BB course page by November 23, 8:00pm EST. Do not submit. Do not submit the
same work by both you and your partner.
 Your answer will be checked to detect similarities (plagiarism) with other students’
submissions. Unusual similarities/plagiarism to be dealt with Trent University’s
Academic Integrity Policy.
 Late submission will be subject to penalty @ 5% deduction per day

Assignment Structure/Rubric:

A tentative structure of your assignment/essay may look like as follows:

Introduction ( 3 points, word limit: 125)
Outline what you are going to say and how your essay is organized to support your
argument.

Why supervisors matter at Google? (10 points, word limit:1050):

This is the main body of your essay. You can organize this section in few paragraphs/sub-
sections based on the five key course concepts (from chapter 1-8) you want to integrate
in your argument/discussion. You need to briefly integrate these concepts/learning into
Google’s learning from OXYZEN research project. Please be specific (e.g., specific
concept, theory with chapter no. etc.) in mentioning course learning in your essay.

Conclusion (3 points, word limit: 125)

Organization of the assignment: language, clear writing, and in-text citation with list of
reference. (4 points)
