GOVERNMENT SUPER-SPECIALITY HOSPITAL
(HYPOTHETICAL PROPOSAL)

1.1. PROJECT INTRODUCTION:

Hospital plays an important role in the health care system. They

are health care institutions that have an organized medical and other
professional staff and inpatient facilities and deliver medical, nursing and
related services 24 hours per day. 7 days per week. The super specialty
hospitals has a specialized modern health care treatments are provided.

In this hospital the special problems are treated with special care. It
has three specialized department and with several other departments.

1.2. NEED OF THE STUDY:

Healthcare in India is in a developing stage and it needs a

radical policy shift at government level to usher in the changes to face the
challenges of the future. Under the umbrella of health care providers are
outpatient set-ups, nursing homes, hospitals, medical colleges, health
spas, diagnostic centers, ayurvedic and naturopathy centers, hospices, old
age homes and more. Most of these institutions will have varied needs,
which will differ vastly in terms of their planning needs. Health care
provision in India is different in rural and semi urban settings where it is
more unorganized to today’s super specialty centers where it more
institutionalized. The sector suffers from long years of neglect by the
government in terms of priority funding despite being a basic need of the
community.

1.3. AIM OF THE STUDY:

 The main aim of this project to give a special care for the patient
those who need a special treatment for their illness.
 Providing healing space within the building to give a positive
thoughts.
 Providing better facilities in the building.

1.4. OBJECTIVE OF THE STUDY:

  To provide super speciality medical care.
 To study the inter-relation of various department
 To study the function of the users and the circulation flow in the
building
 To study about the healing space providing in the building
 To study the traffic patterns for movement of physicians, hospital
personnel, patients, visitor should be concentrated, moreover
efficient transportation of food, drugs, linen and other supplies are
handled carefully.

1.5. SCOPE:

The art and science of designing a hospital anywhere is a

complex affair. Beyond technical requirements that modern medicine
demands and rigid functional relationships between different medical
departments, the designer has to cope with a host of more subjective
issues like the anxiety of the patient, the stressful work environment of
the staff and the need to build a sustainable and healing building;
Hippocrates’ injunction to the medical community being, “First, do no
harm.”

1.6. LIMITATION:

This study only covers designing super speciality hospital for a

particular region.

1.8. SITE:

LOCATION:
The site is located near Thiruppathur, Sivagangai district,
Tamilnadu.

APPROACH:
The site can be approached through Karaikudi -Thiruppathur -
Dindugul Highway Road. Public vehicles are also allowed to reach the
site.

SITE AREA:
Approximately 8,50,676 sq.ft. (19.6acres)

REASONS FOR SELECTING THIS SITE:

This site is selected because it is easy to access by people and
patients as it has a proper approach road. Located on the Highway and
nearby to the town, this site suits as a perfect place for quick access and
emergency.
