▪ Born on 12 January 1863 in Calcutta.
▪ Early name - Narendra Nath Datta
▪ Father – Vishwanath Datta
▪ Mother – Bhuvaneshwari Devi.
▪ He came under the influence of Sri
Ramakrishna Paramhamsa at the age of 17.
▪ He was very excellent in studies, music,
poetry and gymnastics.
▪ Education is to enable a person to stand on
his own feet, it teach him self - confidence
and self respect.
▪ To him education was an assimilation of
noble ideas.
Educational Philosophy of Swami Vivekananda

1. Education is a continuous process and should cover


aspects of life such as: physical, mental, emotional,
intellectual, moral, and spiritual.

2. His educational philosophy is based on Vedanta and


Upanishads.

3. He was against book learning and believed that education


is not all about book learning and getting information.
