The passive voice:

Subject+v+object (active voice) bc we know

who is the speaker or the person who did the
action.

Object+v+by the subject (passive voice) bc we

do not know who is the person who did the
action, plus we focus on the object more than
who did it.

Note: Verb in the passive voice changes

according to the tense we have.

Present simple:
Active voice>>>>> subject+v+s+object >>>> the
subject he/she/it.
Active voice>>> subject+v+object>>>> the
subject we/you/they/I

example: she plays in the yard.

he plays in the yard
it plays in the yard
we play in the yard
you play in the yard
I play in the yard.
they play in the yard.

Passive voice for the simple present:

Object+is/are/am+v3+by the subject

example: The cat eats meat. (active voice)

Meat (singular) is eaten by the cat. (passive
voice)

is/are/am they depend on the object whether it

was plural or singular.
In case the obj was singular>>>> we use is
in case the obj was plural>>> we use are

You have to keep in mind the below note:

There is a difference between the structure of

the passive of the simple present and the
structure of the present simple passive:

Obj+is/are/am+v3+by the subj

structure of the present cont:

subject+is/are/am+ving +object

How to solve the passive voice question:

1. Identify the tense we have.
2. Apply the rule according to the tense we
have.
3. Identify the object because the helping verb
changes according to the object.

Simple past:
Active voice >>>>subject+v+ed+object
Passive voice>>>> object+was/were+v3+by the
subject.
example: the cat ate meat.
Meat was eaten by the cat.
