1. Define transfer function. Find the transfer of the following signal flow graph as shown in
figure below :

2. With the help of suitable diagrams and expressions explain the principle and working of
synchro transmitter and receiver used in control system.

3. State Routh Hurwitz stability criterion. Examine the stability of the system whose
characteristic equation is given by s5 + s4 + 2s3 + 2s2 + 3s + 5 = 0.

4. The characteristic equation of a feedback control system is given by :

s4 + 20s3 + 15s2 + 2s + K = 0

Determine the range of values of K for the system to be stable. Can the system be
marginally stable? If so, find the values of K and frequency of sustained oscillation.

5. A unity feedback system has a transfer function G(s) = 10(s+1)/s(s+2)(s+5)

Determine :

a) Stability gain b) Static error constants

c) Steady state error when r(t)= 3+10t

6. What is meant by Root contour? Sketch the root locus plot of a unity feedback system with
an open-loop transfer function
G(s) =K/ s(s+1) (s+3) and also determine the value of K for marginal stability.
7. a) Explain the concept of state and state variable.
b) The transfer function of control system is given by :
Y(s)/U(s) = 4s+3/ s2 + 5s + 10
Find the state model for the system using the decomposition technique.
8. Write in detail about the following :
a) State variable modeling
b) Controllability and Observability
