They have covered tree growth and different parts of trees. They know the two categories of trees
and have researched some individual species independently. They have worked with scots pine
timber in the school and know what it looks like.

2. LESSON RATIONALE

To introduce them to various common species of trees and teach them how to identify NL
different leaves and seeds along with some properties of the timber from various trees.

To strengthen their knowledge of the categories of trees and the signs that we use to RL
identify what category each tree falls into.
