34 “Be careful, or your hearts will be weighed down with carousing,

drunkenness and the anxieties of life, and that day will close on you
suddenly like a trap. 35 For it will come on all those who live on the face of
the whole earth. 36 Be always on the watch, and pray that you may be able to
escape all that is about to happen, and that you may be able to stand before
the Son of Man.”

34 “Mag-ingat kayo na huwag kayong malulong sa labis na pagsasaya,

paglalasing at matuon ang inyong pag-iisip sa mga alalahanin sa buhay na ito;

“ Jesus is Coming Back “

It is a revelation to each and every one of us that we should not let ourselves
be eaten up by the glamorous aspects of life- whether it is money, power or
position. Instead, we must ask and pray for courage and strength to seclude
ourselves from temptations and evil acts.
These warnings, suggested by the need of preparedness for the tremendous
calamities approaching, and the total wreck of the existing state of things, are
the general improvement of the whole discourse, carrying the mind forward to
Judgment and Vengeance of another kind and on a grander and more awful
scale—not ecclesiastical or political but personal, not temporal but eternal—
when all safety and blessedness will be found to lie in being able to "STAND
BEFORE THE Son of Man" in the glory of His personal appearing

Mark 13:33
Ephesians 6:18

“We all spiritually drift when we neglect spiritual discipline”

Spiritual Discipline (1 Timothy 4:7-8)

We need to be ready for when Jesus comes

Spiritual Training//Practice

1. Meditation (EXAMINE YOUR SELF)

-In this text, Jesus urges his disciples to get rid of the alcohol and the other
cares of this life that prevent watching for Jesus. What in your life prevents
you from watching for Jesus? Some self-examination is called for here. If we
don’t take a close look at ourselves, how will we ever know what needs to be
changed? “Examine yourselves, to see whether you are in the faith. Test
yourselves. Or do you not realize this about yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in
you?—unless indeed you fail to meet the test!” (2 Cor 13:5).

2. Fasting (EXAMINE YOUR RELATIONSHIP)

What is fasting?

- it is hard to let go of sin,

3. Prayer (EXAMINE YOUR FAITH)

-In our text, Jesus urges prayer as a way to prepare for his coming. Prayer
focuses our attention on things that really matter. Is it any wonder that Paul
wrote, “Pray without ceasing”? (1 Thess 5:17).
- We pray. If we’re praying diligently and faithfully, our eyes are going to stay
on that prize, on that day.

We will then be counted worthy to escape all these things-As a Christian, we

need have no fear of that final and great day
ill stand before the Son of Man-God is going to judge the world through
Jesus. Stand here, though, means to stand with conviction, confidence and
without wavering. “Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to
stand against the schemes of the devil” (Eph 6:11). If we’re wearing the armor
of God, we may stand confidently while Satan comes; if we’re watching and
praying, we may stand confidently before the Son of Man.

Hebrews 12:11

11 For the moment all discipline seems painful rather than pleasant, but later it
yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it.

how would our lives be different? We’d make sure our lives were ready for
that sudden coming! We’d correct our lives! We’d spend great time in prayer!

Are you ready for that coming?

-hindi po ito katulad ng gawain sa school, bahay, trabaho na maari nating

ipagpabukas.

Hindi natin alam at kailanmay hindi natin malalaman at ang tanging kailangan
nating gawin ay ang maghanda!!
* Be careful
* Always on the Watch//watchful
* Always Pray// prayful

We need to train like a soldier

1. Many people who would never abuse drugs or alcohol may be lulled into
complacency by sports, music, television, social media, or a host of other
earthly pleasures. Even though they may be essentially harmless in
moderation, they can become addictions that distract us from following Christ.

2. We can also be distracted by the “cares of this life.” We have bills,

responsibilities, and needs. We need money to meet our basic daily
necessities, and this usually requires work. However, some people get caught
up in workaholism or other drastic approaches to solve their problems in their
own strength. Some may become so concerned about paying their bills that
they work two or three jobs, neglecting their relationships with God and their
family. Their marriage may collapse and faith may be shipwrecked. Our
obsession with our pleasures and problems can distract us from following
Christ and doing His will

“Our obsession with our pleasures and problems can distract us from
following Christ and doing His will.” Ain’t that the truth? Like your friend, we
sometimes borrow trouble from the future without having mastered the trials
we’re presently juggling. Perspective is everything.

As human being we cannot change our circumstances but we can change our
perspective with God’s help.

3. Christurges us to remain on our guard, to keep alert at all times, and to

pray. Trials and temptations will come. The earliest disciples did not avoid
hardship by becoming Christians. In fact, the life of faith brought extra
problems. They prayed, not for the problems to go away, but for the strength
to remain faithful to Christ in the midst of crises. (See Acts 4:24–31, where we
see how the disciples prayed when they were threatened.) We should pray,
not to avoid problems, but to have the strength to endure and persevere.
Hard times and trials will come. We will face them in our daily lives. In the
Lord’s Prayer, we say “Give us this day our daily bread.” That same one-day-at-
a-time urgency applies also when we pray, “And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.” We will face temptation and evil today. Let us face
today’s temptations before focusing on the trials and tribulations that may (or
may not) come in the future. God will give us the strength to persevere in the
trials we face today. As we develop faithfulness and perseverance, we will be
prepared if and when harder times come.
