Their job is to administer medical care, answer patient questions, and

communicate any concerns to the nurse supervisor. Their responsibilities are

observing and recording patients' behavior, collecting patient health histories,

interpreting patient information and making decisions about necessary actions,

counseling patients and their families, educating patients about treatment plans,

etc. Registered Nurses typically work within healthcare facilities; some nurses

work in schools, community centers, offices, and the homes of their patients.

Other nurses, known as travel nurses, have no fixed workplace environment.

nurses must be sympathetic to the needs of their patients. Patience-some

patients may be resistant to treatment, nervous about medical procedures, or

generally ill tempered. Critical Thinking-Registered Nurses must assess patients’

health and symptoms and note any changes in their condition. Registered

Nurses need the ability to cope with stress, as it is a very demanding


environment. This job also requires the ability to work under pressure in a

fast-paced environment.

State University Long Beach. To become a Registered Nurse you need to take

college prep classes in high school, choose the type of nursing school you want

to attend, select a college and apply for admission, apply for financial aid, and

obtain an RN license. California State University can complete their clinicals.

Intended for bachelor's degree holders and recent grad's, this program can take

as little as 15 months to complete. By the end of the program, students will be

ready to take the NCLEX-RN. California State University, Long Beach’s main

focus of the nursing school are the traditional track, an RN-BSN track, and an

accelerated option. The nursing school at San Diego State University has four

main programs: BSN, RN-BSN, a Master's in Nursing (MSN), and an LVN-RN.

direct care to patients. LPN and a RN is licensed after graduation from a 4 year

undergraduate nursing program and successful completion of the NCLEX-RN.

Assistants administer tests, perform examinations, and prescribe medication.

Both Physician’s Assistants and Registered Nurses often share similar job duties

such as assisting in treatment plans, instructing patients on their care, and

providing life support when necessary. Dental Hygienists and Registered Nurses

both work directly with patients to improve and prevent health conditions. Both

have the option to see regular patients, offer regular check ups, and regularly

make a difference in the lives of others. Dental Hygienists specialize in oral

healthcare, Registered Nurses are qualified to assess and treat a wider array of

health conditions. The occupational outlook as a registered nurse is expected to

rise 16 percent through 2024, leading to an additional 439,300 jobs within the

period. This growth is much faster than the average rate for all local industries.
