Name and recognize/classify basic organic functional groups and simple organic molecules. Develop a three-dimensional view of carbon compounds based on covalent and ionic bonding. Predict the properties and reactivity generally imparted to specific functional groups. Use arrow pushing to explain/define the mechanism of typical organic reactions, Predict aciitybasicity trends including estimating pka, Understand and interpret potential energy diagrams and reaction coordinate diagrams, Design single and mult-step synthetic schemes for organic compounds, Lecture: Regular class attendance is required. Some material covered in the lectures will not be found in the text. Furthermore, university Poli states that “Absence from more than 10% of the scheduled class sessions, whether excused or unexcused, is excessive and Instructors may exact a grade penalty for these absences.” Homework: Homework will be assigned and you can ask your TA to go over problems in recitation, but it will not be graded. | wil post the {answer keys in Blackboard.
